From the Main Index page, choose the region of the US you are posting from. In your case, it would be the Central US Wireless forum or the Samsung forum since you're using a Samsung phone.

Once you've found the correct forum, click on New Thread to post a new thread. You can also subscribe to the T-Mobile and/or Sprint user groups here to get direct answers from fellow users of those providers:

Thanks, we think they are too. Cellulounger is not just your average miniature beach chair; it’s made from real wood and canvas and looks and feels like a real beach chair. Soon we will have a ton of sports logos on them. The celluloungers are also a great promo item for businesses – a great giveaway at a convention. It’s like a business card that never gets put away and we can print any logo, slogan or company motto on these as well. And of course they can be sold in any retail establishment, gift shop, cell phone accessory store, on line store, etc. etc.

What kind of business are you in?

A T720 is a GSM phone & it will not work on Verizon (At least I don't think they made a CDMA version of it)

The T720/721 is the GSM version, but there is a T720 CDMA version and it was sold by Verizon a long time ago.

I'm holding one right now. I also have a broken T730 that is Verizon.

I also found the things to put my picture into the wallpaper and screen saver. Getting the drivers to load properly to enable the the picture and not disable my phone book and calendar was tough.

    Hello, everyone!

What started out as a simple desire to have my Verizon cellphone "just WORK", in my house, is now turning into a quest, and that has brought me here.

Verizon customers (my wife and I) for many years (before they were even Airtouch here), our troubles began almost 2 years ago when Verizon switched us from our analog mounted-in-the-car phones to handhelds (LG VX4400).
It took us a while to realize that we dropped so many calls, and received so few calls (most going to voicemail), that it was pointless to try to do any real business with them. And the "free" long distance is of little use for the same reason.

Now, the phones DO work most places, just not where I work or at home, the places I spend 99% of my time, even though we usually get 2-3 bars. Verizon does not seem to believe that this is much of an issue, which made sense after I read what Verizon's CEO, Ivan Seidenberg, said last April (SF Chronicle--http://www.muniwireless.com/archives/applications/620):

“Why in the world would you think your (cell) phone would work in your house?” he said. “The customer has come to expect so much. They want it to work in the elevator; they want it to work in the basement.”

Calls and letters to Verizon have resulted in someone measuring signal strength somewhere "near" my house and pronouncing it adequate, and having a technician check the phones and reprogram them with the latest software. All to no avail. Verizon offers no more hope.

So now I'm learning about frequency bands, PN offsets, antennas and repeaters, etc., which is all quite interesting, but it sounds like I will have to change carriers if I want a phone that works in the house.

Interestingly, we have some Sprint phones that work great in the house, which is why we had never thought to question the Verizon service :O . (The Sprint phones are under the Pioneer plan, so we have to pay for airtime, even though there is no monthly fee, which is why we wanted a monthly calling plan.) With Sprint we have good signal strength at home and at my work, so it looks like we'll switch to Sprint in December when our Verizon contract expires.

You can't "hear me now", but you will in December! :D

    Welcome to WirelssAdvisor!
How old are you phones? If I could make a suggestion, try to talk a Verizon rep into letting you upgrade early since your old phones are obviously not working right, talk to a supervisor/manager until you get the okay, get a Motorola V710 or E815 and see if that helps. My move from LG to Moto was incredible, reception wise. Places where I could not make/receive calls I can now talk on with no problems whatsoever.
Overall, the VZW network in your area is great, so I'm sorry you're having problems with them.
IF my suggestion with the other phones doesn't work and you're still not getting a good enough signal at home/work, then return them and cancel in december.
Also, CDMA digital networks are much better in your area now than AMPS, so if you'd still have your old AmPS phones now you'd be disappointed in constant system busies.

    Andy,

The LG phones are less than 2 years old. Apparently an earlier run of VX4400's had antenna problems, but we are told that ours are OK.
I have seen where the Moto phones work better, the PN offset jump thing: I can upgrade phones in October, so I may try that.

A question: I sometimes travel out in rural areas, so I've wanted a tri-mode phone for emergency roaming: is that still an advantage, or are the AMPS cells being removed from those areas and/or upgraded to digital?
That would influence my choice between the V710 or E815.

I know the AMPS sytem here is strained; that's why we finally went digital 2 years ago. Those sure were convenient phones to use in the car, though.

    Another question:
I could fix my in-home coverage with a wireless repeater, and a single-band unit is affordable, but the dual-band (800 mHz + 1.9 gHz) units are a bit pricey. Would a single 800 mHz repeater be enough? VZW apparently can use both bands here, but I suspect it's mainly the 800 mHz band that they use: I was unable to glean any info from the VZW people about this, except that historically, they used mostly 800mHz in the West, and mostly 1.9gig in the East, due to acquisitions of smaller networks.

So, more questions: Would a single 800 mHz (or 1.9gHz) wireless repeater be enough for my house?
Does the phone stay on one band at a time during a call?
Or jump band-to-band as it moves from tower to tower? (I'm in the 91941 ZIP code)
Or does it frequency-hop between BOTH bands (or use one for uplink, and the other for downlink) so that I really need to cover both simultaneously?
Or does it periodically check which band has the stronger signal, and then move there?
Is there any way to interrogate my phone to discover which band it's operating on at a particular moment?

Logically, it seems to me that the phone would look for the band with the stronger signal, and stay in that band until it is forced to change, for whatever reason.
If that were the case, a single-band repeater should be all I would need to boost my local signal to a generous level.

    Thanks!
    Forrest
