Hello everyone! me and gamer are live at the nokia store in downtown Chicago!
Charlyee....you would be like a kid at a mcdonalds playland! What a cool store! Hope all is well with you! I have to go, Gamer is getting crazy! I bought him one too many shots! See y'all later!

Well Dave and I had a great time. Dave bought my lunch (thanks for doing that Dave ) which I will have to return the favor. We missed Charlyee but her and her husband and family come first (Charlyee sent James, Dave, possibly Tony, and I a message that her husband is in the ICU and recovering nicely, which is great news ).

Dave and I took some pictures and Dave is either going to post his pictures tonight or tomorrow. I will post mine when I get back. Dave and I talked to both James and Tony while inside Marshall Field's at the 7th on State Frango Mint Cafe. We then went to the Nokia store and took some pictures and saw a Vertu 18k gold phone that cost $20,000!

All in all, it was a great time and and I enjoyed meeting a fellow Wa'er. Next time I am up this way, I will have to see Charlyee, Dave, and anyone else that is able to make it.

 

Glad you guys had a great time we look forward to some pics.

No. No one got arrested. Dave said that I was walking when there was a no wall sign so Dave was going to call for back up because of me but decided against it....lol!

ALmost! Poor Gamer! He was going to end up in the clink....but I flashed my badge and they cut him a break! That would have been bad! You know what they do to you in the Chicago clinks!

 

No we didn't ask We were so busy playing that we didn't even talk to anyone! Gamer is waaaaaay better at the photoshopping.....I will deligate that to him!

 

Okay....here are the pics of Gamer...Me....the Nokia store.

I am really bummed! 2 of them came out soooo blurry, I dont know what the deal is with my Kodak Camera anyhow....the 2 blurry ones I took candidly while we were on conference call with Tony Look at Gamer talk!

 

Of course we had to do a little internet surfing, of wireless advisor of course! from the Nokia store, on the Nokia devices!

We then logged out and left Wireless Advisor up on the screens to possibly assist more people in their wireless questions and tempt them to sign up! :thumb:

 

And last but not least....the front of the Nokia store. The ONLY one in this country. The only other store exists in Germany....not sure where......maybe Shoresguy could help on that one

Yes! Speaking of storm....notice the umbrellas me and Erik have in our hands.....I was in 2 severe thunderstorm warnings which caused me to have to pull over 3 times on the way to the train station....which consequently caused me to miss the train. I then couldnt find a parking space and had to park in a garage 4 blocks away. Between that and Charlyee's emergency...I swear some force was trying to kill our Chicago meet!

Yes, I know I was going to end up in jail...lol!

I guess I should not have told the cop that I am a Green Bay Packers fan since he was a Bears fan. But Dave saved the day by flashing his badge and doing his Gomer Pyle impression....."Shizaaam" :smilebig::biggrin:

The cop let us go and told us to be sure and watch Andy Griffith (he asked Dave if he has a cousin named Goober) and Gomer Pyle USMC (again he asked if his police chief is as strict as Sgt. Vince Carter) when they are on tv on reruns.

Charlyee - glad to hear everything turned out OK. Best wishes to your hubby for a speedy recovery.

Shizam, Gamer - Sounds like a good time. Thanks for the pics. I didn't think of leaving WA up on the devices when I was there - good job!

Also, I didn't even go into the Vertu booth. I hope you have a picture of the $20K phone.

Yes, I have a picture of the Vertu phone on my Treo 700p and I think my digital camera. I will post my pictures when I get back next week.

 

Let me clarify that you guys were having a longer conversation with our US-based Tony(E) ....I prefer Toni .

That's news to me, there are Nokia stores in Cologne but these are rebranded Nokia SMS stores which carry nothing but Nokia merchandise. A location search on Nokia.de did turn up several Nokia Shops but these are most likely authorized dealers.

Those stores were listed as being in Berlin, Potsdam (just outside of Berlin), Würzburg

Nokia's own stores are called Nokia Flagship Stores. There are plans to open at least 1 such store here in Munich.

There hasn't been an official statement from Nokia Germany but I would expect something to happen in the next 6 months or so.

When the guy at the Nokia store told us how much the Vertu phone was, he said that the first Nokia store in the world is in Mosco, Russia and not in Germany. I too like Dave thought that the 1st store was in Germany.

 

Sorry I couldn't meet with you on Thursday...had some meetings before /after lunch so couldn't "sneak" away from work. Haven't been on WA much because I've been moving around...left Atlanta to take a job in Chicago but also bought a place in Austin TX (real home). So, too busy to "play" and didn't have Internet half the time.

Hope those who met in Chicago had a nice time.

 

Captain....me and Gamer are the only ones that were able to meet. It was a nice time.....maybe next time you can join us
