"I really feel for the neighbors but I really don't see that we have any choice," Irwin said." Why does she feel sorry for the neighbors ? It baffles me but does she think their house is going to suddenly lose value or all of the surrounding area is going to get leukemia ? It certainly wouldn't surprise me given the ignorance that proliferates in that part of town. G.
My thoughts exactly. The whole world isn't going to end because of one 20 foot light pole. LOL They need to find better things to do with their time.
Go Jonathan!!!! What a dilemma. I never really hear anything about NIMBY's and such huge problems about sites going up in my area. I don't know if I'm just blind but I'm sure NIMBY's are everywhere, even though it seems like people in CA are getting more ridiculous each day, the NIMBYs I mean.
You think California is bad, go to New Jersey some time. Wow. Just... wow. As for Thousand Oaks and Westlake Village -- every time you read about a dictatorial homeowners' association, realise it's made up of people like these, who have the money and the time to mind everyone else's business for them.
You guys are great. Larry, I should have known that you'd sniff out all of the news. I wasn't even aware of the Acorn article before your posting! :O Siting in T.O. generates lots of community interest, and that interest seems to generate a fair number of appeals to the City Council of Planning Commission approvals and denials. j PS: Someone please send me a PM when you see my name in the e-press. I never go looking. :browani: Thanks! j
An FYI: Tomorrow (June 14) I'll be appearing before the Redondo Beach Parks/Rec Commission regarding a proposed T-Mobile site at Aviation Park. Thursday (June 15) I'll be appearing at the Irvine Planning Commission regarding a proposed Nextel site at Hicks Park. Tell your friends and neighbors, and don't forget to tip the waitress! :browani: j
I feel sorry for the residents who do not have cell coverage. My dad lives near there and his wife has cingular and the coverage is weak. The Verizon coverage there is pretty good along Westlake, but there are a couple of areas on Kanan east of Westlake that are bad. I really do not like a lot of people who live in the greater Westlake/North Ranch area. Some of the worst drivers I run into live out there. Sprint I believe has a couple of sites on the utility poles further north of the Cingular site. Those are the same type of people who complain about coverage on the one had, but you can not put it in my backyard, my house is worth 2.75 million and that light pole could cause me to lose 5 thousand dollars of my property value. Plus I will get cancer from the radio waves. But I will most likely get cancer from the tanning beds I use all the time, or on while getting plastic surgery. When my wife and I were looking for a new home, we decided that we did not want to move to Westlake too much plastic.
