A few more pics from Bike Week 2012:

I'll start with one taken with my dad's HTC Inspire 4G. It was taken in total darkness, I had finally talked mom into going with me for a ride:

The rest of these were taken with my HTC Vivid LTE:

Hard to believe that these pics are not taken from a standalone camera. They are that awesome. Though I have never been interested in photography at any point in my life, in seeing pics like these, I always ask myself " Why cant I use that that little device in my pocket for shooting?".

Just a few quick observations: Having been an avid photography hobbyist since my teens (so over 50 years), one thing I noted about some of the outside pics taken facing into the sun or a cloud cover backed by sun, it seems the angle some of you were holding the phone at was an upward angle--this accentuated the sunlight problem. As a suggestion, before snapping the picture, try angling your phone downward a bit and notice how the image on the screen auto-adjusts and gives better contrast. In other words, if the exclamation point were you and this backslash "!-\" were your phone's profile (facing upward), you need to something more like "!-|" or "!-/"

This image was taken with my Samsung Infuse:

Here is another trick for those of you who enjoy taking photos: About 5 years ago, without much public fanfare, Microsoft released a free app (for PC & MAC) called ICE (Image Composition Editor). With it, you don't have to fuss about aligning multiple pictures (like most panoramic software). You cannot take anything more than 180-degrees, but more importantly, even if your intent isn't to pan, you can catch a much larger view. The most amazing thing is that you can even take videos with your phone. As long as nothing changes in the scene, ICE will convert the video to one large picture. (Only one video per conversion.) Of course, you can also import multiple still images into ICE and it will stitch them together regardless of the angle. The only caveat is that each image you take must have about 25% of the previous image in order to figure out the stitching.

The image below was taken using my DSLR, but the same can be accomplished with your phones. I took the pics in portrait mode and then brought them into ICE. There were 12 images in total.

    Bedroom-sml.jpg

Remember, you do not have to hold the phone in one orientation. You can mix portrait and landscape and even ____eyed, as long as certain recognizable elements are in each for the stitching.

The picture looks very nice and you could find the difference only when you watch closely at the edges of the two adjacent images. I believe that you have to maintain the same distance for all the photos, only then you would be able to stitch them. Please correct me if I am wrong.

I wanted to test the low light settings on my Galaxy Note II. My living room has horrible lighting.

The HDR let in more light on the HDR vs the default. I couldn't tell much difference in the photos otherwise.

To see the difference, compare photos take a view from inside your home that includes the room and a view out the window on a Sunday day. HDR will give a photo that has both properly exposed or pretty close.
