A friend had his son ring up a $500.00 phone bill that was never paid and he told me, "I'll never use that phone again, you can have it if you want it." And so my quest began. That's what brought me here:rolleyes:

Ah yes, the extremely high, unreasonable phone bill. I am going through that with Sprint right now. Have over a grand in charges currently in dispute.

Oh, and welcome! We could use some life in these forums!

Thanks for the welcome. My older brother Ward in Sacramento lost his long distance privelages when he dialed up a local # for his modem and left it on all day. The phone co. said it was a local/long distance # and he owed them $500.00. So when he wouldn't pay they made it so he can't call out or receive long distance calls. He urged me to get on the computer so he could keep in touch. I used to have a home built tower, but it was mistakenly thrown away... long story. My little brother sent me an ol' think Pad and now I'm trying to get the phone to talk to the computer so I can send pics for free.

What service you got and did you have some sort of data plan on the account? Also, if you recently got the account, must as well cancel it if ETF doesn't affect you! Sorry to hear about the big cell bill :O

I went down to the US Cellular office and got a plan that gets 450 minutes per month for 55.00 and for 5 per month more I got insurance in case I drop the thing in the toilet or have it lost or stolen. They said the first bill would be higher for activation fees bla bla bla. Of course there is an early termination fee, I forgot how much it was though. oh ya then there was a 5 dollar fee for text messaging I got that too.

So you're basically paying $65 a month for 450 minutes, 250 text, and insurance. It seem like you gothit with ~$100 bill for using EDGE data when you probably didn't have a plan on the original account. Lesson learned, but you should add the $10 or $15 unlimited EDGE data plan to your account if you plan to use the phone at a later for surfing (or accidently use it). If you don't plan to use anymore data, just permanently disable data access on your phone so that way you won't be hit with another big bill due to data.

On a side note, it is funny how US Cellular charges its customer another $6 a month for unlimited mobile to mobile minutes when their the 5th largest wireless network in US.

I have my data/fax set to off and pc connection to usb. I also received the DATA PILOT Pix 'n Tunes, by susteen ( brand name) that I ordered from "The phone shop" online for 19.95 on sale. It comes with 8 different phone connectors for your pc and works great so I don't have to send my pics over the e-mail way anymore!

When I download my 15 second videos from my phone via the usb connection, they are saved as mjpg files that I can not open because Windows Vista on my New Dell Inspiron doesn't know how. When I go to the web, I haven't found a site that says here's your answer for free that doesn't end up trying to charge.
