Today was not a good day for my E815:mad: . I take public transportation to work every day. Lots of people do and they travel with their phones quite safely and both owner and phone end up at work. This morning, I made it to work and my E815 did not. I panicked when I put my hand on my belt and found there was no phone there. :help: I rushed outside almost knowing the fate of the phone, but expecting to see someone holding it and playing with it. I found the screen in the street :censored: and the battery up the street while the battery cover was off the side of the road. My phone was demolished. :crying: It met its demise as a truck rolled over it and then the other cars took their turns at ensuring that the phone was completely dead. I have never seen anything like it. My E815 actually did resemble an electronic form of road-kill. I scooped up the pieces, went back into the building and called the insurance company.

Co-workers gathered  around and we all looked at the phone with a silent empathy. :nopity:A guy I work with, with a Razr actually looked deeply touched by the site of the phone. :( He put his hand on his phone as he offered me coffee and a sympathetic ear in case I needed to talk. It was actually a little dramatic, but other folks understood the pain of the loss of the beloved electronic appendage.

Now, I have a question for all of you. I hope someone can help. I have quite a lot of things on my phone that I will be paying out the A** to reinstall, however, my phone book, I did not back up with the fancy offer that Verizon had. When I first saw it I thought it was a good idea and I should have done it, but Idid not. I am wondering if I can take the remnants of the phone in to Verizon and have them attempt at transferring the phonebook when I get the new phone. Is it worth a try? The phone is demolished but possibly they can get something out of it.

The other thing I was wondering is if ayone here knows of anyone who can or would be willing to thlep me out in giving me information on how to get the phone book off the ohone myself. Or if you know anyone who would and could physically do it for me within the NY NJ area.

If this line of questioning if out of line, I am sorry for that, but I am desperate. I need help. :help:

I'm sorry about the loss of your phone. Unfortunately I don't have the information you need. Perhaps someone will post some info later.

I am truly sorry for your loss. Your only hope would have been that if you had a GSM phone that maybe your sim card survived enough to read its memory. I don't think there is anything that can be done for a totally destroyed CDMA phone.

If the circuit board isn't damaged to badly you my be able to hook up it with a computer and extract the info. While seem editing my old V710 I inadvertantly did something to cause the phone to not even boot. I was able to reload the factory seem with the phone powered off but a powered USB cable hooked up to it. You might get lucky and be able to access the phone book the same way. The big question is, is the connector on the bottom in tact?

Thank you for responding to my post you guys. I know it was kinda lame, but I wanted to share. If I figure out how to put pictures up I will put the picture of the carcus up so you all can see it.

gilly001 - thanks for responding to me. I was glad to see someone responded. Thanks.

Buickman - the bottom connector is in tact and today i put the battery in and powered it up and the lights on the keypad came on:eek: . THERE IS LIFE!!!!!:evillaugh

Jay2therescue - I went to your sticky about modding and I ended up at a site where there was a program called MotoKit. I downloaded that but now I have to go to Radioshack and get a data cable. I had one and tore up my office searching for it. It is lost so I'll go buy another. I think they are inexpensive. I hope this works. If I can get everything off the phone I will!

    Thanks you guys.
