    Interesting article.

    http://www.bostonglobe.com/business...second-best/ci08Fg2pAkoFXkYPg0EV9H/story.html

"“Just buy an iPhone.” I’ve been saying that a lot lately, to inquisitive strangers and friends. No hesitation, no reluctance. Just buy an iPhone.

I’m surprised by my own certainty. I’ve used and loved an HTC One Android phone for the past two years. But I got an Apple iPhone 6 last fall, and it’s no contest. The iPhone’s faster, lighter, and thinner, with a big bright screen, excellent battery life, and a marvelous camera. Game over.

Or not. Here come some new Androids, from HTC and Samsung Corp., to complicate matters.

The HTC One M9 is as elegant as ever, but with a snappier processor, a much-improved camera, and excellent stereo speakers.

The Samsung Galaxy S6 brings a sleek new body, an inventive user interface, and a fingerprint scanner that actually works — usually.

    ......

I could happily tote the new HTC phone around for the next two years. But I don’t think I will. With its superb build quality, first-rate camera, and the promise of Samsung Pay, the Galaxy S6 has leapfrogged my former favorite. For a committed Android user, it’s the one to choose.

And yet, I’ll keep on recommending iPhone 6, which does just about everything, and just about perfectly. Exciting though they may be, the Samsung-HTC wars are a fight for second place."

Well, I'm glad I watched the reporter's bio video before commenting. His comment about Boston being the tech hub of the USA says it all. Too bad there isn't a dunce emoji here

There has to be a second place...some people just like Pepsi more than Coke (or neither, but that's a whole other thing ;))
Also without a 2nd, 3rd, etc. the government starts with the monopoly word.

Except that he didn't exactly say that in the bio video. He writes about all things with technology, not just phones.

" many of the people who invented the things I write about live here or pass through here. There aren't too many places in the world like here"

Which is true and a fair statement. He is not being exclusive of CalTech, Stanford which are in California, but in different cities.

The inventor of the World Wide Web works just around the corner where the video was made. As resides MIT, Harvard , as well as satellite cutting edge offices of Google, Microsoft as he says. And Apple. And all within walking distance. That is a remarkable location.

Boston is the tech hub of the US? GTFO.... Not disparaging MIT, but get real.

Again he did not say that. Get your facts straight.

Trying to hype one over another in all areas related to science and tech is a dumb argument, especially when the journalist didn't say or make that argument.

Even worse to use that to discredit his opinion regarding his article. Logical fallacy.

Doesn't matter what area of computer based high technology we are talking about. Boston is nowhere near the epicenter. That's arrogance of crazy levels. And I have my facts straight, thank you very much. I can't see the video, so I an just going by the words in this thread.

I didn't disparage his opinions about the iPhone. I just said that Boston is not the epicenter of the computer hitech industry. And I don't have MY facts straight?

No you didn't. Kevin James did. And KJ misquoted or rather made up what the journalist said about Boston being THE tech hub of the U.S. He(the journalist) said no such thing. He wasn't even talking about computer tech exclusively, as he reports on many things, like life sciences.

I'm not arguing with you but your statements are not based what the source said but what KJ mis- paraphrased and then used to discredit what the journalist says about Apple. Since KJ hates all things Apple regardless

    What a waste of time.

    Here is the video.

Sorry, didn't mean to open can of worms. I didn't get a feeling that he was truly a "go to" source of tech info. Perhaps I'm being too critical.

I watched the video. I guess he can be forgiven for a little parochial hyperbole about his hometown.

Would the unbiased 'go to' journalist person be based in Korea, California or Washington (Samsung, Apple,Google, Microsoft)?

Anyone can have a good opinion/argument from anywhere

He writes about pure science,, tech and biology. He only sin is that he has good resources of cutting edge science and engineering in a very small area.

Creative people come from and trained everywhere. He may be accused of slight hyperbole. However the only 2 schools rated equally #1 (USNews and World report ) in computer science AND computer engineering AND electrical engineering are MIT and Stanford.
