    Thanks Byrnefm [IMG],

I was just wondering whether I would have to put the number in the e-mail address format into the text message itself and then leave a space before entering the text message itself. I.e. : (312) xxx-xxxx@vtext.com Hi, how are you? Then I'm still stuck wondering what actual number to put into the "Number:" field after I finish entering the message. Josepho said that in his case he just entered the number in the "Number:" field after finishing his text message. I tried entering the same number again: I.e. (312) xxx-xxxx. Considering that Vodafone owns almost half of Verizon's parent company, it is a bit surprising that you can't text a Verizon number in the US whereas you can send a text to any other Vodafone-owned (as well as any other GSM provider) network around the world without any problems.

Anyway, thanks for the hint about vtext.com [IMG]!!

    Hi ShoresGuy,

If you're sending the message as an email via your phone (I know that some network operators let you do this - I can't on O2-IRL), then the format AFAIK is:

    eg. for (312) 123-4567:
Your message would be of the format:
    3121234567@vtext.com Your Message Goes Here

That's how it's done for O2-UK, I believe, if you want to send an email message. The telephone number to send it to (to be delivered as an email, or in this case, to the Verizon phone) is network dependent.

If you are able to send the message directly to a US cellphone for the above number, the cell number would be +13121234567 or 0013121234567, and you'd enter your message as if it were a UK text you were sending. Vice versa, the number would start with 01144 (for sending to the UK).

Assuming you can't send texts directly to Verizon, then the email method (be it through your phone or via the Net) is your only option. In my case, for example, the Net or via email are the only ways I can do it, as I don't have email capabilities from my service provider. Note that if your emailer formats messages, the text will be truncated after the first new line - I've had this happen to me before!

I hope I've understood your question correctly - if not, let me know!

    Thanks byrne [IMG],

I've tried all of the methods you've described above. My guess is that at the moment Vodafone doesn't support this functionality without an active e-mail (data) account. It's nothing major but I was hoping to help Bugwart out by sending him some replies. Whenever his SMS came in, they'd arrive displayed as: 00180--------. So maybe it will work after Inphomatch signs an agreement with Vodafone.

Thanks for all of your help everyone [IMG],

There are actually a number of companies around the world that are not interconnected -- none of the US carriers were until last year, and SFR has had this problem for years. But the o2 page is an handy reference.

I don't think termination fees / whatever have anything to do with it -- the companies on their list on not interconnected with ANYONE so it's not a problem on 02's end -- certain operators seem to think that by not interconnecting they will force people to sign up - just as AOL keeps blocks interconnection with it AIM from ICQ or MSN Messenger

    Hi,

could someone paste in the info from the O2 UK website? I'm not able to access it - perhaps because I don't have an account with O2-UK.. Cheers!

Its nothing to do with not having an account. The page is just blank now, they might've changed the address...? I'll have a look later if I've got time!

If so, email me: j (yeah, just the letter j) @ ohwoah . com
