My question is that I send a text message at a certain time but on the bill its way off it's time, my girlfriend is in trouble because it said we have been texting around 12 am - 3 am, sure there is a few hour to minute differences in a lot of them but even if we did text say at 10pm three hours later it would be 1 am if we text 11pm it would show 2am that is still a lot of time different we would still have to be up at 12 am to have a text show up at 3am. My GF and I stop texting around 10pm pacific time. I have tried calling cingular but it took me a while to talk to anyone with authority, they kept saying the same thing "The bill says you have been texting around that time" "There is not much I am able to do". I managed to get to a manager, but he could not do much more. From what it seems that their billing machine cannot be wrong. But I keep yakking away and saying "We stop texting around 10 pm". Now I told them of the text messages that I have kept on my phone gave them the time it was sent and date I should also compare what my GF has on her phone with mine. But has this been a problem with anyone else and what can I do to see what is happening?
First and foremost, welcome to wireless advisor! Your issue sounds like quite a conundrum. While I have no possible explanation for the time delays, I am curious to know why this is such an issue?
Just a few questions for you: - Where are your accounts from? Your girlfriend and yours? In other words, where are both of your area codes from? - Where were both of you located when texting? Were both of you in two different time zones?
Me and my girlfriend are same area code usually with in a few miles of eachother, bout 5-6 miles, our accounts if by that you mean cingular for both and as for the time zone cant be cause we live so close to each other.
I would have to say that since the main gateway for SMS for Cingular is in Atlanta, there is your discrepancy. Not positive, but your looking at Atlanta being several hours ahead in time zones...... Could be???
That is a possibility since there is a 3 hour difference between the East Coast & West Coast, and a 10:00 PM West Coast message would show as a 1:00 AM East Coast time, if they go by that for their billing. Of course then that would mean all of their phone call times would show the "East Coast" Time Zone on their bills and people wouldn't go for that confusion. Unless they are setup differently with their SMS servers.
I am on Central Time and all my text messages and calls have always shown the right time, which is about one of the very few things that Cingular's billing has been accurate with...sorry couldn't resist that one..
