I have one acct. with two tele numbers on it. Is there anyway for me to be able to recieve the Text message that is being sent to business phone on my other phone? Sometimes I don't carry my business phone with me and offen miss my text message that is being sent , because I forgot or just didn't bother to bring it with me that day. Any advice???
I don't want my personal phone # given out, that's why I opted on two numbers and two phones. Is there a way to do this without giving my personal phone #? Or is there anyway to check it on the internet? Thanks...
Unfortunatly there is no way to forward automatically text messages from 1 phone to another. That would be an interesting feature, but I guess because most people only have 1 cell they don't have that feature available, like with phone calls. Maybe as the market gets more saturated & people start having more then 1 cell or carrier it maybe something they will try.
I believe you would have to use a third party messaging service. There are companies in the UK who design software platforms to redirect text messages. However, I do not know if U.S. mobiles CDMA or GSM are supported. Here is one of them, maybe they can help you with it.
If the third party messaging service option does not work for you, another thought might be to create a messaging "alias" for your personal cell phone number - that way you don't have to give out your personal telephone number, yet you could still send "business" SMS on the days you forgot to carry your business phone. You would do so here . Follow the "messaging preferences" link on the right-hand side of the page, and then once you have registered in the messaging center, use the "message options" link on the left-hand side of the page, and it should allow you to define an alias which will be used in place of your phone number as your phone's e-mail address (ex. "alias"@txt.att.net). I would test it before you use it to send/receive with someone you don't want to have access to your phone number, however. It works for me - but mine has been set up for several years - and there have been some changes to the messaging "control" features since I set mine up. Doesn't solve the issue of how to receive SMS sent to the business line in the first place, but at least it allows you a way to communicate from the personal line without giving access to your personal phone number. Unfortunately too, it's only going to apply to SMS sent to/from e-mail addresses - not straight SMS between two phones. Your phone number would continue to be visible there.
