Re: tethering and spring I would guess that people make that mistake because we type too fast and hit the g located right below the t. But I am not looking for typing critique. Would you like to share your insight on tethering?
Telekom, does it really matter? The OP is asking about tethering, if you cannot help, please don't take this thread off topic. Thank you! BlackBerry9700/5.0.0.405 Profile/MIDP-2.1 Configuration/CLDC-1.1 VendorID/102
Re: tethering and spring I have yet to see a tethering app for the Pixi... My understanding is that Sprint will be adding this feature with the new versions of the pre / pixi. I know the pre has a homebrew version called my-tether... but you need to know some linux stuff to get it working. My Tether | PreCentral.net
Re: tethering and spring Thank you, I will keep an ear out for any info. I will keep checking maybe I will get lucky. All info is appreciated I enjoy the learning process
Re: tethering and spring Precentral did have some great info for the pre, I look forward to finding some for the pixi. Thanks again
Re: tethering and spring I'm glad to hear you found some of the info of value. Precentral is a great resource for the Palm WebOS. Good luck and welcome to the WA forums.
I just called Sprint re getting a new phone. My contract has been up for a year. The operator told me that Sprint hasn't offered the phone as modem plan for a long time. I was tethering my Razr with their still available software. What is so? Can I tether a Hero or Blackberry tour? Is it just unsupported? Thanks
Sprint doesn't offer it on most of their plans, but if you got a Tour and then purchase a program called Tether (Tether BlackBerry | BlackBerry Modem | Tether) and it will allow you to use the Tour as a modem. It's technically not allowed by Sprint, but they have no way of knowing that you are doing it.
Thanks AnthroMatt Any thoughts on PdaNet? Since I haven't committed, it's still between the Tour and the Hero. Tether looks pretty good and it's totally Mac compatible. Tether has a Hero beta coming out but I can't tell when. PdaNet is Mac compatible for the Hero but only supports Bluetooth DUN for the Tour. I also saw a comment on a site about some tethering programs using proxy servers. How would that affect tethering? Thanks again How do I thank you so it shows up in your profile?
I have PdaNet on my Moment. It is the free version, so it doesn't permit access to encrypted sites. I haven'y decided to purchase it or not yet. I signed up for the beta trial of Tether for Android, so hopefully I will get to try that too. I used to have a Tour and Tether worked flawlessly with it, so that is my only real experience yet. I haven't had a chance to test Pdanet with my Moment aside from verifying that it does, in fact, work. I don't really know about the proxy thing. So long as the program worked and I got no extra charges, I didn't mind all that much how it went about doing it.
Re: tethering and spring Hi, What about the Palm Treo Pro? Is Tether compatible with that phone through Sprint? Also, is Tether compatible with Windows XP? Thanks for you help..
I have used the purchased version of PDAnet and was surprised that it installed and worked flawlessly and didn't mess anything else up. I don't use it much but thought a backup method of getting on the net might come in handy one day. We now have another phone, an Android, but haven't set up anything compatible for it yet.
