I thought I would start a thread on what people use for ringtones & why (optional). I will start Tequila for callers in my phonebook - I love the upbeat tune. Treo Classic for callers not in my phonebook - blah tune, if they were interesting they would be in my phonebook . Phantom of the operra for work related - ominous, it's always trouble when work calls on my cell. Bachs Sonata for my father - it's his favorite. Wabash Cannonball for hubby - matches his personality . Bolero for son - annoying but wonderful just like he is. Your turn. Palm850/v0100 Mozilla/4.0 (compatible; MSIE 6.0; Windows CE; IEMobile 7.11)
I switch off between the "24" ringtone, and a recording of one of my Western Electric 2500's ringing. I gave up on individual ringtones ages ago. Because I can't hear all that well I cannot hear a lot of ringtones, especially over the background noise at work. On days I cary a Motorola phone with me its almost always on "siren" because its so loud.
On my Samsung Glyde, I have the Daughtry tone as default, What About Now and Ty Tribbett's Victory. I have those because I was tired of the stock Samsung tones. I have the Daughtry tone because there are folks who want something... I have the Victory one for the less needy contacts I actually paid for the ringtones because for the quality is better :nono: (I MMS'ed them and Samsung hobbles BT on their dumbphones)
Well I had a set of 10 tones made of a mix of music. Each one had a specific use. Since many people heard them every one that heard them wanted a copy of them. You can say that now I stopped using them because of that. Will be working on a new set but right now my default tone is Mauro-Picotto-Komod. It is a unique tone that no one has.
Ringtone? What's that?? lol. My cell phone is primarily used for messaging/e-mail, so I typically just keep it on silent. Opera/9.60 (J2ME/MIDP; Opera Mini/4.2.13918/504; U; en) Presto/2.2.0
Different tunes (mostly from Russian cartoons) for different people — trying to match by the character traits
I had a similar trend set on my phones but that did not look good when it rang while in a meeting. LOL, I had a Toilet Flush for one of my contacts and that person happened to call me while in a meeting (forgot to turn it off before) and that really generated some looks and laughs. Never again would I ever forget to turn my phone off when needed or at least have to make sure it is on Vibe when I am waiting for an important call.
I'm pretty boring. Usually it's on vibrate, but if I have it making noise I use the Blackberry's classic ringer, sounds like a phone from the 50's.
Didn't take me long to develop a habit of turning off the ringtone when in a meeting. Happy to say didn't have to learn it the hard way To be fair, you probably go to a lot more meetings than I do
I am extremely boring when it comes to ringtones. No separate caller groups or ringer rules. I went through a brief downloading phase where I got a bunch of old TV show ringtones for one of my phones (Addams Family, Green Acres, Get Smart, etc.) but I never actually used them. When I replaced that phone, the ringtones went with it. Now when I get a new phone, I search through the available tones for the one that sounds most like a regular electronic phone ring (not the old phone bell) and use that. On the G1, this happens to be called "Flutey Phone". Then I choose a very short, discreet beep for incoming notifications, like text messages and email, and set my phone on "Ring & vibrate". That's it. SW
I'm as boring as SteveW; I just run with the stock, built-in ringtones. Of course, if nothing built-in was plain enough, then I might get more active. I'm presently using "Ring-WindowsMobile" on the HTC Tilt, and "Meditate.aac" on the Nokia 6555. COtech
I have three custom sound profiles (Standard, Quiet, and Night Mode) on my BlackBerry Storm: Standard (all ringtone levels at 8 or 9 for louder environments): Phone ringtone: Viola (a free VZW dance ringtone that I downloaded a while back): Volume 9 LED OFF Vibration OFF Email ringtone (all email accounts): BBRelaxed_Melodious Volume 9 LED OFF Vibration OFF Notify Me During Calls YES MMS ringtone: Notifier_Crystal Volume 8 LED OFF Vibration OFF Notify Me During Calls YES SMS Text ringtone: BBPro_Sanguine Volume 9 LED OFF Vibration OFF Notify Me During Calls YES Quiet (in areas where phone volume should be silent): All ringtones are set to vibrate Night Mode (when I am asleep at night): All ringtones are set to off
The Simpsons Theme Song by Green Day (Main) March of the Stormtroopers (Mom & Dad) You Got a Friend by Far East Movement (Friends) Baby Got Back by Sir Mix-a-Lot (Girls I Know)
I'm another one of those boring people who just have the standard ringtones or I have my phone on vibrate.
The Simpsons Theme by Green Day Baby Got Back by MC Hammer (Yeah, I get a lot of looks whenever it rings)
Jay would like my current one....the sound of an old push button touch tone phone ringing....one of those phones from 1980 The spring time I had a tornado siren as my ringtone. THAT was fun freaking all those people out :browani:
I used to pick interesting/funny ringtones, but now I just don't give a **** anymore ...now I usually just pick any random MP3 from my phones music collection. Now I think it's on either AC/DC's Highway to Hell, or Chuck Berry's Johhny B Goode (I'll let you know as soon as someone calls me I get enough of Nu Pogodi! when I'm home, don't want to hear it on my phone
No. At least I don't think it is the same one. I don't remember yours....but mine I downloaded from somewhere on the web (can't remember where) But then again...don't all those phones from then sound the same?
