GRR, my friend has Cingular TDMA here in DE, she has been traveling from the beach back home alot. For a long stretch, her phone simply cannot complete a good call(nokia 5165)....I dunno what is up, sounds like s---, and I can barely hear the s---!! Does anyone have a good TDMA/Cingular map of Delaware so maybe I can see where this problem is....and to see if by switching to Verizon will fix it (should, with better analog capabilities with those pull out antennas). Thanks!
The 5100 series phones have a bad habbit of breaking the antenna if banged a little bit. The connection will break inside the phone. This will cause horrible reception. Is a $10 or $15 fix at Cingular service center. I have 5 Cingular phones on my company account and this has always been a problem with these phones.
Where on the beach are you talking? Rehobeth? If you are going up DE-1 - Cingular's pretty spotty - I can probably give you more information if I knew where you were driving. Let me know. jason
I havent asked her where the problem is, it is on 113(or is that one 13....nah 113 is the beach one right? Damn I hate 1,13,113 too many goddamn ones!), and it is somewhere past Milford. She's coming from Rehobeth/Dewey. So its before the airbase but after Milford.
Hmm - The area you are in sounds like around Frederica DE. This area is pretty poorly covered by Cingular in my recollection, as they have towers in: Dover, Woodside, Harrington, and Milford. Frederica is sort of in the middle of those sites (if you look on a map). The best coverage in that town will come from Sprint PCS. They have a site on the town water tower - their network down there is pretty good, but I have had problems with coverage from them in the past, and am really hesitant to recommend them. Voicestream has sites at Little Heaven (2 mi N of Frederica) and at Spring Hill (2 Mi S of Frederica). When I said earlier that VS didn't have coverage on US-113, I meant to say 113 S of Milford. Hope this helps. jason
