Well just alike late 2018, it’s time to convince my wife to take advantage of the 2 year Apple upgrade. She has 8plus and happy. But refuses to use Finger ID. Face ID works so well that is transparent to me. It would be great for her and ease my concerns about misplaced phones. So like last year, our dear leader is wanting to hit another 10% Tariff and I doubt that Apple can ignore it this time around. Or ramp up Vietnam production. Well that is my argument. Saving money she responds too. Just one month to make her decision. Thought about tariffs??? Sent from my iPhone XS using Tapatalk
I'm not that good with economy, but I think you're right — ultimately the US consumers will be paying the tariffs
Tariffs are paid for by the importer and the price increase is passed on to the consumer. It's not paid directly by China, although Trump keeps saying it is. I haven't noticed any shortage or price increase on Chinese products. China isn't dumb, It would be easy for them to use a 3rd party at a minimal cost to import to the U.S. to avoid the tariff, ie, Indonesia I doubt iPhone made by Foxconn in China will have a tariff. Apple could apply a lot of pressure and Foxconn could stop building their $10 billion dollar TV factory in Wisconsin that is suppose to employ 13,000 people. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Foxconn's_Wisconsin_plant
Here's a couple of articles on tariffs: China's government and companies in China do not pay U.S. tariffs directly. Tariffsare a tax on imported products and are paid by U.S.-registered firms to U.S. customs when goods enter the United States. https://www.reuters.com/article/us-...d-by-u-s-importers-not-by-china-idUSKCN1UR5YZ Trump bragged that “China is paying us billions of dollars in tariffs.” Treasury, he added, is collecting “tremendous amounts of money, which is great for our country.”. A tariff is a tax on imported goods. Despite what the president says, it is almost always paid directly by the importer ... https://www.forbes.com/sites/howard...hat-is-a-tariff-and-who-pays-it/#5a5060c3137b
Yes, the lie about China paying tariffs is very obvious from the get-go. My question was whether would Apple be allowed an exception this time around again by Trump. I think not, since Trump is scrambling for more good to tariff. And that is what i am reading too. Big profitable companies, like Apple might absorb a tariff for a while to ensure their market share. But there are limits. Come September, it may happen. In preparation, Apple is starting to assemble in Vietnam. So I got my wife convinced. Yahoo!!! Sent from my iPhone XS using Tapatalk
Yep. Trump gave Apple and others an exception through Christmas. Trump realizes that the consumer might find out they pay the tax tariffs and not China. And just at holiday season. Sent from my iPhone XS using Tapatalk
The Trump Administration’s new China tariffs taking effect from Sept. 1 could hit many high-demand Apple products. They include AirPod earbuds, Apple Watch, fitness trackers, smart speakers, and Bluetooth headphones, and HomePod speakers. Although the new tariffs would have covered the iPhone and Apple computers, they have been temporarily deferred until Dec. Sent from my iPhone XS using Tapatalk
Farmers are really getting hurt too. I think this is the article I was reading the other day: https://www.reuters.com/article/us-...s-the-toll-of-trumps-trade-wars-idUSKCN1UR5XZ
Good news article! Maybe iPhone users should have a fund too. Trump has no clue about trade. Sent from my iPhone XS using Tapatalk
