    Is there a seem edit or something I can do that will remove the 15 second length cap on the videos that I record on my V3m. It pretty aggrivating.

    I think the procedure is the same on GSM and CDMA models. This is how I did it on my GSM V3. Activate your video camera then hit your menu key (top middle). Go to Videos setup. Highlight Video Length and click change. Select maximum.

    You're done. No seem edit req'd.

    The maximum duration for taking videos on the V3m is 15 secs.

    There is also two SEEM's you can do, BUT no one has tried them yet. If you try them, let us know what they do to the menu's, options, setting, etc...

    SEEM's:
    Menu Items: Video Setup > Video Quality
    offset = 005f
    bit = 7
    setting = 0 (off or unchecked)

    Menu: Video
    offset = 006e
    bit = 4
    setting = 0 (off or unchecked)

    Found this little tidbit that might help you out.

    Run Bitpim
    Click on Filesystem Tab.
    Navigate to brew/mod/arcmedia
    Right click on arcconfig.ini file and Save it to your desktop

    Edit the file using notepad or any text editor (Find the line VidDuration and change the number to 120)

    To save the file in Bitpim:
    right-click on arcconfig.ini file and choose Overwrite.
    Pick the file from your desktop.
    After it overwrites, close bitpim, unplug phone.

    Note: When recording video, the counter will go to 00:59, then 00:00, and it will keep going untill it reaches 00:00 2 times. If you change VidDuration to 240 the video recording time is increased to 4 min 55 sec. File size is somewhere around 2.5mb.

    Hope that helps.

    Just for curiosity's sake the method to enable unlimited video on GSM versions doesn't translate to the CDMA models?

    Thanks,

    Jay

    I am sorry, but I cannot answer that one. This is the first time I have ever done anything like this and since I own a V3m, I can only relate my answer to the RAZR V3m and sometimes the V3c.

    If you look at post # 2 in this thread I describe how I did it on my GSM V3. Could you try it on your CDMA model and see if the same procedure works?

    Thanks, Jay

    Gotcha now. Here is the results: (yours steps are in bold)

    Activate your video camera then hit your menu key (top middle).
    The menu key is the RECord button on the V3m

    Go to Videos setup.
    Video Options key:

    1.) brightness
    2.) white balance
    3.) Duration = short 5sec; medium 10sec; long 15secs
    4.) color effects
    5.) switch storage device

    Highlight Video Length and click change.
    same duration above.

    Select maximum.
    see duration above.

    So to answer the question in post #5, No they are not the same. This is good to know for future reference.

    Thanks

    As I said in another thread a few minutes ago They've totally revamped the seems and everything on the CDMA model V3. It used to be that stuff like that was the same, but no more. I'm going to limit myself to just answering ?'s on GSM models as I have no intention on switching to CDMA service.

    Thanks,

    We are getting there in the learning process, though. So that is good.

    Well, i did both of these seems, and all it seems to have changed is added a "change storage device" in the video capture options menu. Not sure if that was there before or not..

    Look to this site and try option #9. Some of the phones are having to do this also.

    I tested this. It works, however if you select one of the menu timers (5, 10, 15) it will reset it to those times. This edit does NOT replace one of the stock timers with your custom timer.

    When in BitPim, you need to find the folder a/brew/mod/arcmedia Then in that folder, look for arcconfig.ini Right click and save it. Open it in NotePad and scroll down til u find VidDuration. Change the value from 15 to 120 (for 2 mins) or to 240 (for 4:55). Keep in mind u may want to change the storage device save location to your mem card so the phone's memory doesnt fill up before u are done recording. Once u make those chnges, close and save that file. Then back in BitPim, OVERWRITE the original still on the phone, with the one u edited and saved on your computer. DO NOT DELETE AND ADD.

    Just as a note, you MUST have a Verizon V3m. This will not work if u have Sprint, Alltel, or USCC. It is a Verizon thing only, and it did not say in your post who your service provider is. If u cant find it, it is b/c yu arent Verizon ;)

    Although the volume cannot be increased, the way to make your video camera record more than 15 seconds is to open the vid camera, go into options, and switch the storage location from phone to transflash card. I have recorded over a minute with the tf card, where the phone's memory cant go past 15.

    I have the sprint version of V3m, I switched the storage location to "external memory" and it still only records 30 seconds as it did before I switched. Any Ideas as to why this is or how to put it to the max recording?

    Also, will switching the recording length through Bitpim void the warranty?

    Hey Cincy and everyone else....I apologize.... I didn't realize that both posts were under the same forum setting. I asked one question in this forum and I googled "extending video length on v3m" and found another topic through the search engine and replied to the thread I found not realizing it wasunder the same section of threads. Instead of linking me back to both of my posts, it would have been a little more helpful to either answer my question, or say that you didn't know...no big deal though and thank you for previous answers. If its possible I would like these two questions to be answered this will be my last post..sorry for any inconvenience. 1.) Will using BitPim to extend video length void the warranty 2.) I did change the storage location to "external memory, but it still only records for 30 seconds. Is there any way to maximize length?

    Yes and no. It will only if they find out. But it is easy enough to reverse the process. And chances are, if somehow your phone got messed up, there is no way they would think to look in that file for the problem. They mainly look for water damage etc...so I wouldnt worry about it.
