Ok, so I'm sure most of you have read everything about making your mp3's as ringtones, but I still cannot seem to get this working. I first changed my phone to "mass storage" in the usb options, but this only lets me add files to the memory card. This is great, but I cant seem to select any files from my memory card as a ringtone. So when I change my phone to "modem" instead of "mass storage", I am able to connect using the software that came with the phone. In the "phone explorer" program, I can see the onboard phone memory, and can even transfer *.mp3 files to the music folder, but when I go to use the *.3gp trick, it says "unkown file type" and wont let me transfer my (for example music.3gp) file to the music folder. I can transfer the *.3gp file to "other files", but this way I cannot select it as a ringtone. Also, if I transfer a regular *.mp3 file to the music folder on the phone's memory, I can see it, but cant select it as my ringtone (its greyed out). So anyways, what I'm asking is, how did you guys transfer the *.3gp file onto your phone's "music" folder without it giving you the "unknown file type" error? I know this is long, but I want to give as much detail as possible for the best response. Thanks!

Well, Ive figured out my own problem. In case anyone else is curious, once the *.3gp files are transfered onto your memory card into the "music" folder, you can go to Fun & Apps > Memory Card > Music, then under options: Set As > Ringtone, and it will transfer the file from your memory card to the phone memory, and can be used as a ringtone. Cheers!

I have the same problem as Zonum18. I hook up the USB cord from my computer to my phone. I open the "open folder" and click and transfer my MP3 song from my computer to my phone. I then unhook my phone and computer and when I look on my phone, it does not show up. Can someone help me? My email address is SPYDMAN00786@comcast.net

SPYDAMAN and zonum - have you had any luck?

The only item I can suggest is to install the Samsung PC Studio 3 software. Set your phone to "modem" for the USB connection and connect with the software.
Then use the "Manage Files" option and copy the .3GP (renamed only from .MP3) files to the "Other Files" folder.

Once you disconnect your phone, to "Fun & Apps" - "File Manager" - "Memory Card" - "Other Files" and you should see your .3GP files here!
Highlight the .3GP file you want and click Options and then go to "Set As Ringtone". Hope this helps.

    someone PLEASE help me!
i`ve had the samsung t809 for about..
3 months now && i`m STILL having problems
uploading songs to become ringtones on my phone!
i finally found a program that allows me to convert
mp3 files into 3gp files but i can`t figure out how to
transfer the 3gp file into the phone!
and when i tried to transfer it using the program that
comes with the phone, the 3gp option wasn`t there
so i wasn`t able to upload them.. :(
    another thing is..
when i convert my mp3 files into 3gp files
it doesn`t let me cut out 3o seconds of the
song i want as the ringtone. it just converts the whole
entire song. [ i use ImTOO 3GP Video Converter ]
    someone please help me!

    super5deng-

ok, quick and dirty. on your phone, have it set to USB MASS STORAGE. When you plug it into the usb cable, it should(assuming youre using windows xp) be selectable in My Computer as a Removable drive, and will have 5 folder contained(Images, Videos, Music, Sounds, Other Files).

As for your 3gp problem. My method was as follows, and has yet to fail me yet.

If youre using the PC Studio 3 that came with your phone, you can use the sound editor to cut your file down to 30 seconds. you wont be able to save as a 3gp from here, but instead save your edited sound as a mp3. from there, go ahead and use whatever 3gp converter you wish(i use quicktime pro), and convert the edited mp3 file to 3gp. Alternately, you can just change the extension of the edited mp3 from *.mp3 to *.3gp(in order to do this, you MUST have file extensions viewable in windows explorer OR use the command prompt). From there, transfer it to the 'Music' folder on your phone.

I must make it clear, DO NOT use the program that came with the phone for transferring files. It sucks. Instead, find the removable drive as stated earlier.

If you have any other questions, feel free to ask.

    shirokimura-

Depends on how youre converting the file, how good the source was, ect. All of my ringtones sound great, so if the source you are using is crappy(ex: <128kbps mp3 files) then youre probably not going to get a very good resultant 3gp ringtone.
