Has Moto fixed most of the problems with the t720 with the newer t730? (speaking strictly of CDMA versons)

What is the general concensus on the t730?

The general consensus is that the phone is almost as terrible as the T720. A few problems were allegedly fixed, but some new ones were also spawned. (The phone now initiates back end data calls through BREW on it's own, using thousands of minutes of airtime at a time, running up your bill.)

stupiud, do a search on T730 or 720 and you'll see the carnage. What I don't understand is how some people still claim the T7xx is a great phone. They must keep it powered off [IMG]

I don't think as of yet, the T730 CDMA is a phone to be paid for. IF it was a free phone, possibly, but, there are still too many kinks, too many large kinks. I don't see how Verizon remotely considered letting Moto release this phone upon their network. I'd go for an LG VX4400, or a VX6000. H.T.H

Oddly enough...2 coworkers of mine have the T720...one of them also has VZW! (I don't know what the other person has for a carrier). The VZW coworker LOVES her T720!!!

I'm guessing of the 5 good CDMA T720's that were made, she must have 1 of them...my other coworker also loves hers...but I don't know if we're talking GSM or not.

All I know is I'm glad I listened to everyone here...when I lost the Ebay auction for the T720 (which I jumped for joy mind you!!), I quickly began to pursue the v60i...I LOVE my v60i!! Have only had 1 dropped call on it & actually I think it was due to the other person's reception!! Hee Hee

To be honest, I love my T720/T730. I really like it's interface etc, BUT, I wouldn't recommend it to anyone, just because it's had soo many problems. [IMG]

Honestly, when I first saw my coworkers, I thought the T720 was a great phone! I liked the size, weight, color screen & many of the features. The fact my coworkers liked the phone made me think I knew what I wanted...now that I've seen SO many others having problems on the VZW network with them, I'm glad I chose to bow out from the T720.

    No problems here.

But I'm tired of the phone already. I want the V810.

Is there anything possibly coming out pre Christmass from Verizon from Motorola?

Will they try to cleanse the bad taste they have left in the moth of there customers this year?

I thought the e310 was going to be projected for this Christmass ([IMG]), but, I see it's probably not. I think the mouth's will be cleansed, just not yet.

We should see one, possibly two, handsets from Moto by christmas. The first will be the c343. Unfortunately, it does not appear that the v810 or e310 will be out by that time. We will likely see those sometime in Q1 04.

hi, apaxi...i've had my 730 for six weeks now without a bit of trouble...it's on 15-18 hours, i talk 60-120 min., send/rec. 5-10 text msgs, play with mobile-web for 30-60 min. each day.

how long before i can expect to see the myriad of issues you keep mentioning? it would be nice to believe i've passed the "break-in" period, but.....[IMG]

With a T720/T730, you really don't ever pass the "breakin" period. Problems can/will arrise at any moment.

I own 2 T730s (ones the wifes) and have had them for almost 2 months now. Not ONE SINGLE PROBLEM. WE both use GIN,Text MESSAGEING,MMS, and all that good stuf. Never had a CALL FAILD or any of the probems that ppl compkain about on here. THe phone gives me GREAT reception, better then most phones I have had. I redcommend the T730 to lots of ppl on a daily basis.

Frito and I have had conflicting posts for some time now... I would just like people to know that the T730 and 720 are not always the nice little phones that Frito claims they are. I can take a picture of my $640 bill (thanks to the T730) and post it here if you all would like. There are plently of better, more reliable phones out there that VZW offers. Beware of the T7XX series... THOSE PHONES ARE POSSESSED! [IMG]

frito and apaxi: i can't imagine being a judge with the two of you opposing! while my experience mirrors frito's, the sincerity of your views comes through loud and clear.

now my questions: what is the chance that Motorola will continue to work on the software on the T7xx? is it possible for them to bring the phone to a point where there are minimal complaints?

Apaxi: I think you are telling the truth, but I have never heard from anyone about this problem. You are the first. Now anything is possible with cell phones, so i do think u are telling the truth. But I still think that the T730 is a GREAT phone and encourge anyone seeking a new phone to buy one. [IMG]

Okay, lets all be honest..we've heard/experienced a lot of things with the T7XX series phones. I currently am using a T720 with the T730 software in it. The phone has been working okay, the only problems I've experienced were about 3 times, it froze up just as I took it off the charger, requiring me to take the battery out. Also, while I was texting a lot, it blacked out, and basically rebooted itself. That's happend 2 times. Otherwise, it's a good phone. I text all the time on it, it gets good reception, I can hear on it, people can hear me, my battery life has improved, and I've used GIN like it was going out of style. I pay close attention to my minutes used, to make sure I don't run into Apaxi's problem. Although there are T7XX series phones that work right all the time, there are many that do not. It's up to each user to decide if they are willing to risk the phone they buy being a P.O.S. As with all electronics, there are hiccups, but, with the T7XX series it seems to be a lot of hiccups, all of the time. Just beware, this phone isn't for everyone, as it usually comes with problems. I'm not saying it's not a good phone when it decides to work alright, but, generally, people experience lots of problems. [IMG]

dee1jay, Motorola will continue to work on the firmware, rest assured. Each new revision has fixed a lot of problems, but the T730 software which enabled 1x over BREW (GIN) introduced a glitch where the phone gets locked in a data call and can run up your minutes used. As Frito has said, many T730's seem to be OK, but I know that I showed it to my local VZW tech on two BRAND NEW T730's out of the box. He was shocked and called some VZW people higher up. It is now a documented problem, but it might have been fixed by now. This all was last month, and VZW swapped me out of the T730 and into an LG VX4400. All I can say is that I hope you get a good one. I really did like the look and feel of my several T720's and my two 730's, and I have been a loyal Motorola fan for years. Tadlock, let me know what firmware version you have and if you hear of a new one when it comes out. Thanks! [IMG]

Apaxi: I'll let you know if I hear of anything. I'm using 1.2.22.4.5P. It's the T730 software, flashed into a "T720" phone. It's been *okay*
