Okay.. so I got the 19d upgrade sometime ago, which gave me the 2nd battery for free. Now I'm going back and forth between two batteries, and lately it seems like I only get an hours talk time, about 20 minutes on a game before its power starts depleting. It seems to have gotten worse after I updated to 2dp since it actually lasted longer before I did. Any ideas as to why? No status light on, I'm always getting a digital signal, backlight set to 10 seconds, location off, contrast at 3, both batteries are standard.
does location off supposed to save batter power at all? i got the new 2dp upgrade and it seems that its a tiny bit better, but then again, i talk on my phone so much more now that im always charging it anyways...with these new phones, you cant count on talking on them more than an hour or hour and a half and not having to throw them back on the charger during the day. darn technology...
I don't know if it will do anything until Verizon implements the whole location program, which hasn't begun yet. But I just put it on OFF/Emergency Only incase it does end up using extra battery power. I also use my phone often, a few days during the week when I'm out all day running errands it's the only way I keep in contact with anyone. And on those few days when I've got nothing to do and I'm tired of Ps2, then I'm using my games on there. Either way, I'm having to recharge the batteries more than usual, and I just don't get it. It's like the upgrade reversed my batteries' life, making it worse where other people say it has gotten better.
When the E911 Location feature is finaly up and running it will constantly be running thus useing a small amount of battery life. BUT, if you have it set to Emergency ONLY then it will pretty much be idle until u dial 911. The 2DP is *SUPPOSE* to improve battery power as well as stop the analog/digital hunting problem the phone had. Remember to set the backlight to 5 seconds and keep the status light OFF, both of these things are a power guzzler. ALso low signal will help kill ur battery faster. OOther then that i dont see why youall dont notice a diffrence in battert life i noticed a HUGE diffrence with mine, even when i use my stock battery or my Extendo-Life battery! Good Luck
I went into a dance tonight, with full battery (all 3 cells). I come out and its beeping low battery! I didnt make one call while I was in there.... I think its because it was trying to find a signal (because sometimes it was saying No Signal). I didnt play any games, and I only looked at the external screen once in a while cause I wanted to see what time it was (like I didnt even open it)...WHATS THE DEAL!?!?!?!?!!
I agree Budney! When ur phone has no signal is CONSTANTLY looking for a cell, eats up ur battery IN NO TIME on any phone!
Corey, maybe it's not the software, maybe it's your batteries. Do you let them run down completely everytime you use them, or do you throw them on the charger when they start to get low? Do you ever over charge them? Have you been playing your 50 cent ringtone constantly for every one to hear? Cause that will also drain battery.
I charge them whenever the low battery tone starts beeping. They hardly ever overcharge, I have the OEM desktop charger, with the clock, and sometimes I will just let both charge if the battery dies at night and I have no need to switch. Overall they're treated pretty well. I just bought the phone in December of 2002, and started using the extra battery (which I received in January perhaps) about a month ago.
Maybe its the Matrix that has lead us to believe the T720 is a cell phone. In the real world, there is No Verizon, and definetely no 50 Cent, all they play in Zion is Angry German Music....the Matrix has you.
I've had a T720 since September. 2dp has vastly improved battery life for me. I have Status LED light on and my backlight is set to 20secs. The only thing that drains my battery quickly is when its looking for a signal. Other than that, I'm quite happy with my battery life. I use it every day and have rarely needed to go to my spare battery. Verizon gave me 2 batteries when I went in for my 19d upgrades months ago. I hardly even use them. I've played UNO (quite addictive) for an hour without a bar going down in my battery meter. Replace it with another one. I practically replace mine at will at the Verizon store. I'm on my 7th one. The worry free guarantee really does work.
back to the original intent of the thread .. i've gone through 2 batteries and still have problems with the phone dying completely overnight. according to at&t, i have a defective PHONE as opposed to a defective battery, and so they are sending me a replacement....for some reason the phone is discharging itself due to bug/error/fault/whatever..... the phone hasn't been dropped or abused in the less than 1 month that i've had it, so they are assuming just a bad manufacture of the phone. hopefully, the replacement won't be an issue. the bad thing is that you can only move names and numbers to the SIM card. you lose any games, ringtones, voicetags, or other customized settings........quite inconvenient.
Hehe, I can't really talk much though, Corey, I actually do dress in all black and wear sunglasses and long coats and all that stuff, when it's not 100 degrees outside. You guys crack me up too though.
You aren't my old college rommate are you? No, you can't be...he would dress that way even in the humid south Texas summers.
...... what's wrong with a black trench coat and sunglasses..... That's what tech support wants us to wear on housecalls.....
German engineering....astounding enginuity..... over a decade, of conceptual continuity..... sorry, Xprtcop, your sig just brought back old memories.
