I just came across this site a few days ago in search of info on the Audiovox 9500. I'm in the market for a new phone(Verizon) and I've broken it down to either the Motorola 720 or Audiovox 9500. I've seen numerous threads about the VX4400 and whatnot. Now I'm wondering if I should wait for that phone. First off, I have seen the VX4400 in person a couple months ago. Here's the story: I was in line at Pat & Oscar's using my phone(LG510) to just call in an order when this guy in front of me is just smiling and then says hi. My girlfriend and I look at each other in confusion. The guy then says he works for LG and he always notices people using their phones. He then introduces us to his little party of all LG employees and one of them shows us the VX4400. He says wait for this phone to come out and I hear them talk amongst each other saying I have both the service(Verizon) and the phone(LG). Well, didn't get to play with the phone, but they did say should be out Dec/Jan. My cousin works at Verizon and I asked her about the VX4400. She says to not get my hopes up about it because of LG quality. The 510 was a very "buggy" phone. I already have had a replacement one sent to me under warranty. My cousin went through three or four 510's as well. Then she also said when the VX1 came out, it was really bad, so LG "fixed" it and released the VX10.

So, what should I do, get the Audiovox 9500 or Motorola 720, or just wait for the VX4400???

Hey buddy I think I replied to u on the LG section and told you to come here, but Im going to get
    it going.
The VX-4400 has a smaller screen, but LG's get excellent reception for Verizon and this phone
has more talk and standby time than the t720/9500.
The 9500's screen is big, but I have heard people don't like it with the headset and accesories.
The t720, well it just has problems.
YOu ask me, I'd say 4400.

If you are goign to wait for the 4400, might as well wait for the Samsung A530. That phone will rule all

I would wait for the a530, then make a decision. I think it is going to be a lot better phone than the LG.

Well, I dunno. If this is the phone we're talkin' about:

    SCH-A530 link

then there may still be issues similar to what makes people unhappy about the T720 (which I have, and mostly like.)

TWO color screens to eat up battery life, and a freakin' GIN BUTTON! even. So you can fergit about third party ringtones, or anything else.

I'm also curious about the a530. I've seen the Audiovox and it's one big POS. And the LG doesn't come across as a technical giant yet.

The Samsung a530 is sweet! In the description of it (following the link previously posted), it says that "the phone has Picture caller ID which allows users to attach an image to a caller ID". That's freakin' awesome!

Does anyone have the release date and possible MSRP on the Samsung?

No defintie word yet on whether it will or will not have analog, some sources say yes, some say n., I find it hard to believe that Verizon would release it without it, but we will know for sure in the next couple of months when it hits the shelves.

Even if 8702 does wait for the a530 or VX-4400, you should never buy a phone when it first comes out. I took that chance once on the T720 and learned from it. The T720 doesn't have as many problems as it used to and when the a530 does come out, you can expect the price of the T720 to drop once again.

I was going to wait for the VX-4400 myself, but between the small screen and the fact that it's not going to open at a wide enough angle for me (like the VX-10; they basically just used the VX-10's shell for the 4400), I was better off waiting for some future LG phone. I didn't have the patience for that, however. Your cousin was right about the 510 being a buggy phone, and the VX-1 was that x10, so what's not to say the same will happen to the VX-4400?

I suggest you go ahead with the T720 for a one year contract, like I did, 8702. I say T720 instead of the Audiovox 9500 because I am not too experienced with the use of the 9500, but I know it is rather bulky/ugly and I think the T720 gives you a bigger bang for your buck. By the time your contract is up, in fact probably a little while after because you likely won't be looking to replace it ASAP, the a530 and VX-4400 will have all their bugs worked out and cheaper price tags. In that year, you'll also have more choices from Motorola, LG, Samsung, Audiovox, etc.

audiovox is actually cheaper now, has a much better screen then the T720, great reception, and a speakerphone, plus not as buggy. But again look them both over.

My cousin who works at Verizon said that they haven't had good luck with Samsung phones. She said they stop selling them within 2-4 weeks when they come out because of recalls. I don't even think there's a Samsung phone on the Verizon website anymore. I like the screen on the 9500 a lot better than the T720. I haven't really got to play with a 9500 yet but I don't really like the menu system on the T720 when I first messed around with it, but I guess everything needs some getting used to. As for the bulkiness of the 9500, I wouldn't mind it because sometimes with my LG510 I don't realize it's sitting on my lap when in the car, so when I step out it falls outside. Also, I kinda like the look of the 9500. One thing I don't like is the placement of the headset jack and the lack of the external buttons. Those external buttons like on my 510 are very useful especially when you want to cancel an incoming call. Battery life could be better, but I can always get the extended battery. The T720 is a very buggy phone, but my cousin said upgraded software just came in a couple days and word is there are no problems with it. Battery life isn't that great with the 720 also. I guess that's the cost of having a color screen. The VX4400 should be out by the end of this month. I'm thinking of just waiting for it so I can compare the three. I really need/want a new phone because my 510 is draining my battery really quickly. I just got a replacement one under warranty and I think it's doing the same thing. I even tried a new battery. I'm fed up with the phone. One of the biggest selling points for me for the 9500 is the built-in speakerphone. I don't like the idea of an attachment for a speakerphone like the T720. All the employees at my cousin's Verizon are anticipating the release of the VX4400. I guess I can wait too.
