Anyone know what provider you can use the T68i with in the Bay Area? Oakland. Berkeley or SF coverage would be nice. All I see is support for the T68 though AT&T

T-Mobile should have it very shortly (a week or two). Unfortunately, from what I've heard, the 1000 minute "Get More" plan ends today in the Bay Area. The Get More plan will be 600 anytime minutes, unlimited weekends for $40 after today.

Thanks for the info. I only see the $49.99 plan though on the web site and it is 3000 mins anytime, 0 weekend, no other options, hrmm. Also how is T-Mobile's service?

I just purchased the T68i at a Chinese store in San Francisco. I purchased it for $160 out the door, including taxes and SIMM card. I don't remember the name of the store off hand, but it is on the corner of 19th Avenue and Lincoln ave... right next to Starbucks. I got the TMobile service with this phone... so far this phone rocks!

Right, you're looking at the regional plan there (3000 minutes). The 1000 minute plan ("Get More") is under the national plans -- and it's still there for people in the SF area, at least on the T-Mobile website. So I guess they've left the deal in place for the Bay Area for the time being. Get More gives you 1000 anytime, unlimited weekends. You can add unlimited nights for $7 or $8.

I've been okay with the service so far. Okay enough to cancel my ATT TDMA service. I didn't switch because of coverage -- obviously ATT TDMA has better coverage. I switched from ATT TDMA to T-Mobile mostly because I wanted a phone I could travel internationally with and a better plan, and also wanted the GPRS services that T-Mobile offers. Although I've been relatively happy with ATT over the years, I am not terribly interested in being a guinea pig for ATT's GSM network.

I've been running all over the place since I got my TM phone and have been able to check it out in a bunch of areas alongside my ATT phone (before I cancelled it) -- so far, I've found only one place where the ATT phone works better than the TM phone: up in the Palo Alto Hills on Page Mill. However, even my ATT phone is sketchy there. Only complaint I have is that, every once in a while, I get the "Echo Channel", where I really hear my voice echoing on the other end. It's annoying. ATT TDMA wasn't ever that clear sounding anyway, so for the most part this is actually an improvement. The T-Zones (GPRS/WAP) stuff is exactly what I expected and works very well.

TM customer service has been an improvement compared to ATT of late. ATT has extremely long wait times right now, I'm guessing because of GSM transitions. I've called TM probably 4 or 5 times already, and one woman was kind of snotty to me, but still answered my questions. Everyone else was pleasant and efficient. TM is having trouble with their website though, which are supposed to be worked out by Wednesday.

They've extended their trial period from 72 hours to 14 days, so you have a longer time to try it out if you want. Hope this helps.
