I just moved to Germany (two years!) and brought my US-spec Motorola V60g with me. Will this thing work over here? TKS (T-Mobile sales company) told me that I have to have the phone unlocked. How the heck can I do that?
Yep the V60g will definitely work in Germany since it is GSM 900/1800/1900. In order to get it unlocked, you need to take it to a cell phone shop which has the equipment/software to do so. Others have been able to remotely unlock their phones by getting a cable, software and unlocking credits from websites. I would try a search through Google to see what you can find. But the best and safest method to do this is to have this done by a professional store. Depending on what provider you plan on using in Germany, I would suggest going to their corporate stores (T-Mobile's stores are called T-Punkt, Vodafone D2 are called just Vodafone D2, E-Plus shops go by E-Plus and O2 shops go by O2) and asking them if they can remove the SIM Lock feature. This lock is used by your home provider to prevent you from going to another provider and using their services if you got the phone cheap through a contract deal or on a prepaid plan. Where are you living in Germany? I'm German-American and I'm quite familiar with Cologne since my parents are from there and German is my first language. Hope this info helps you somewhat, Good Luck
I'm living on Ramstein AB right now, in Kaiserslautern area. I'm sure you're familiar with the area...
Yup Ramstein sure rings a bell. I haven't down there too often since I only spent the summers in Köln. I was born and raised in California and right now my middle brother is deployed in Iraq as part of a Army Reserve MP unit. He's almost done with his deployment. 4 more months. Anyway, you might try a cell phone or provider shop in Kaiserslautern to see if someone can unlock your phone for you. Good Luck
Wo kann ich die Mindestgeschwindigkeitsbegrenzung finden? You might be able to use your T-Mo.us phone on T-Mo.de without having to unlock it... it IS the same firm after all...
Will my T-Mobile phone choose T-Mobile to roam on in England or will it search for the strongest signal? Does T-Mobile have service on the 900 band in all markets? If not, why do they sell a 900+1900 instrument such as my Samsung E105? Enquiring minds need to know!
Ouch T-Mobile here in the UK is GSM 1800 only. The same goes for the Netherlands, I know for certain that in Germany, T-Mobile is GSM 900 only. In Austria and the Czech Republic, T-Mobile is GSM 900/1800. So it depends on where you go, you can look up the T-Mobile network frequencies here: http://www.gsmworld.com/roaming/gsminfo/index.shtml Where do you plan on going, Yugo?
Well, it turns out the phone worked without being unlocked. Just had to change the baud. Thanks for all the help, fellas!
All unlocking problem can be resolved here logs@westerna.org you can send e-mail even in german. Best Regards, Westerna http://key.westerna.org
