T-Mobile through WalMart?

    I was going through another forum and saw a post about how the RAZR2 V8 is really low priced at Wal-Mart (the actual store). I decided to check if Wal-Mart.com had any deals on a BlackBerry Curve. And they do -- I did a mock order for a BB Curve with the plan I wanted:

    T-Mobile Individual Prime (1000 Minutes) - $39.99
    BlackBerry Unlimited - $19.99
    400 Text - $4.99
    (Total Monthly - $64.97)

    *I didn't see an option for the $5.99 Equipment Protection, can I add this with a Customer Service rep later on?

    The Curve itself, before Mail-in rebates is $199.99, then after MIR, $74.99
    Looking at my cart, it seems I get a free Kingston USB Card Reader & 1GB MusiConnection TransFlash MicroSD Card as well.

    In addition to my Equipment Protection question, here are a few more questions I have:

    1) If I do purchase this package, I basically start the two week trial the day of, correct?

    2) If I find that T-Mobile isn't for me, I can cancel within the two week period and suffer no ETF, but still be charged for using their network?

    3) If I find that T-Mobile IS for me, would I just call up T-Mobile and state I would like to port my Verizon Wireless number to the current plan I have?

    4) Carrying a BlackBerry Curve will be ideal for work and college email, but I would like to have a secondary phone, and I'm actually looking into T-Mobile's RAZR2, do you think I would be able to get a discount on the handset too? Or is that wishful thinking?

    5) Should I just go to an actual T-Mobile Kiosk/or the T-Mobile website and do everything there?

    Hopefully the post isn't too lengthy. I thank you all for any help.

    just keep in mind if you dont goto a T-Mobile Corporate Retail store, and you buy from Wal-Mart and your phone has a problem, good luck finding someone whos going to wanto help you. Wal-Marts gonna tell you to goto T-Mob and T-Mobs gonna tell you to goto Wal-Mart...

    thats the downfall of dealing with an agent.

    on the good side, if you goto a corporate retail store and tell them what you want and that you are wanting a price match with Walmart, they might do it.

    id give that a shot before anything else.

    Thanks for your reply EricN4707, so does this mean I cannot add on the $5.99 equipment protection through T-Mobile afterwards?

    Also, Is it cheaper to go to a T-Mobile store versus ordering from their Website?

    DO NOT buy a wireless phone from Walmart, especially a postpaid. The employees there have little or no knpwledge of the plans and services offered, a BIG requirement if you are going to sign a contract.

    Its true for most of them. And its NOT the employees fault. They recieve little training in the fundamentals of wireless phones or the services offered by the various companies.

    do what I did...dont tell the t-mobile rep that you bought it at walmart..had a problem with a phone I bought at walmart...and t-mobile sent me the newest model of that same phonr for free and I sent the other back..no questions asked!!

    most of the contract plans asn restrictions ect are in the contract you sign yourself and you DO receive a copy of...so if the wal mart employee dont tell you anything read ur contract DUH!!! Don't bash wal mart just because the employee didnt tell you the correct information!!

    it doesn't matter what you sign up for at wal mart or any authorized agent, just call cust service after you activate and verify the plan was set up correctly if it wasn't they can change it for you and yes you can port your number in later to replace the number that is given at the time of activation tmobile's equipment protection is sold by a seperate company but you have 14 days to add starting on the date of purchase of any new equipment, also you should always utilize the web access to your acct with tmobile it is mytmobile at tmobile.com that is an excellent way to verify your plan information set up your acct pay your bills, basicly anything you have to call cust service for you can pretty much do at the website yourself. and forthe spot in red above yes you should bash walmart if the employee at wal mart doesn't tell you correct information...why wouldn't you, lol
