    .
    I just (1 1/2 weeks ago) ported my Cingular/att # (contract up - finally) - to T-Mobile.

T-Mobile offers by far the most talk for the money - & the best pay options.

30 daze to cancel cell contracts here in CA . . . .

    So far, so good.

    Thoughts?

    Best.

Its good in the city, but if you travel att is better. T mobile cannot roam on att who has better coverage in rural areas.
The prices are good though and so is the service.

Overall, TMobile has been going a good job of improving and building out the crummy legacy Cingular network that they took over.

Like Shango said, TMobile's focus has always been on the Metro areas so don't be terribly surprised when the signal is intermittent outside of the city.

Actually, TMo got the ATT blue network and Cingular got the orange network. The blue network was superior to the orange network so I think that TMo made out better in this deal. Since I moved to San Diego last year I ported my number from ATT to Tmo after 18 years, I even gave up the $99 unlmited plan.

    huh..lol..

my dad has t-mobile. he has 3000minutes flat out for $39.99...this is from an old powertel plan way back in the day.

hes about to give that up for ATT, hes tired of leaving the city and not being able to call..

this past weekend he had to drive 20 miles to place out going calls...crazyness.

Incorrect. TMo took over the legacy Cingular network. The blue network was highly inferior to the orange one so why ATT chose it is beyond me. Both TMobile and ATT have done a significant build since the split.

My phone always roams on AT&T and other carriers when I am out of Tmobile territory.
I have the 1500 minutes for $39.00 plan and a quad band phone.
If AT&T has service, I have service.
Maybe you need a quad band phone?

tell your dad to get a new sim and try it first before he leaves, a lot of the old powertel sim cards don't roam correctly...they are out of IMSI range to register on new towers, I have seen it work better for lots of people...just a thought, it would be tough to give up that plan

1st. welcome to the site tmobileman
2nd. you might wanto take a look at the FAQ's and other sections for new members, generally grave digging old threads is frowned upon.
3rd. as for my dads tmobile coverage, he has a new sim, it has nothing to do with that, where we travel to in FL T-mobile has no coverage, their coverage in FL is very minimal, i had to get him an ATT go phone to forward his TMOB number to while he is out of town. i will say in town though he has no problems.

    again welcome~!

Yeah we try to keep the old threads buried because they can be very confusing to members who think it's something new and current to discuss and/or help someone even though it might be years old and useless to bring back up. In this case it's only two months old which isn't excessively old but still not a fresh thread. One time someone dug up a 4 year old thread here! I think that was the all time record. :D
