T-Mobile USA Stores Raided for Selling Counterfeit Handbags The owner of three T-Mobile USA franchise stores in Columbia County, Georgia has been bailed by the local court after he was arrested earlier this month on counterfeiting charges. After monitoring how the stores were selling handbags in addition to their more conventional mobile phones, officials from the Columbia County Sheriff's Office, assisted by the Georgia Department of Revenue raided three T-Mobile and one Sprint retail outlet in the county at the beginning of the month. The police removed a large quantity of handbags including counterfeit Louis Vuitton and Coach bags along with computer records. The owner of the retail stores, Christopher Bettis, 28 faces charges of insurance fraud and two counts of counterfeit trademark violations, Columbia County sheriff's Capt. Steve Morris said. He was not at the stores during the police raids, but later turned himself into the police. Two employees in the stores were arrested - one a store manager, Dion Desirand, and an unnamed female employee who was arrested for an outstanding arrest warrant. LOL... when I saw this post, I remembered that a few months back that an Atlanta TV reporter was almost run down in the mountains by a shopkeeper when the reporter did an exposé on him. The owner sold fake bags and passed them off as real ones :lmao: At least this one didnt take a deadly turn.
Alltel is probaly in that neck of the woods as well... and just as good as the other two I wouldnt be all that surprised if this took place in Metro Atlanta... just change the carrier name to MetroPCS. There are so many authorized Metro shops in Atlanta. You could walk down the street and get a metro and (fill in the blank here)... surely they arent solely making money on MetroPCS
Alltel has had service in south and east Georgia for ages. They just got service in Columbus, Newnan, Opelika, Americus, et al less than three years ago when they bought PSC Wireless... surprised that Alltel hasnt taken off there
yea PCS was popular in columbus for awhile, but built a reputation for less than stellar service. Alltel seems to have the image of something grandma and grandpa use around here, so it just hasnt taken off i guess. not to mention Verizon holds such a large market share in most of GA, and ATT dominating the ATL Metro/Suburbian base that there is not much room for Alltel except in southern GA (think like Cuthbert and rinky dinky towns that the only thing that works is Alltel) and boondocks of AL (south of Eufala and most of 431South). though i have noticed that they seem to be doing slightly better, they are still trailing TMOB and Sprint in this region
Sprint is not that great in Southern GA, much was prior airgate/alamosa area that was not ever built up to capacity, soon after Airgate moved into the region, they made a mistake and purchased ipcs, and shot any additional network build out plans in the foot. T-mobile does okay, VZW had a huge coverage hole in the area until they bought Price Communications, Alltel has been in the area forever, and grandma's and grandpa's probably do have the phones, but so does a huge part of the population, many of the small towns are not covered by larger carriers, and just about everyone in southern GA lives in a small town. Alltel does not currently have licenses in ATL, however, I do know many people from the area that give their kids Alltel phones to use while living in ATL, as their phones will work in both places. As for the original post, I think we are going to see allot of cellphone stores that are non exclusive start to be phased out, it's expensive for carriers to support non exclusive stores, and it mixes the message they are trying to send consumers, I believe Sprint is in the middle of cleaning up their agent channel already.
yeah.... the alltel license stops at the Fulton/Coweta county line; Alltel has a 850 license in Coweta County (which is part of Metro Atlanta)... Since Newnan is local to the Atlanta area, it is possible to have a number that is local to the whole area despite only having service in one metro county. I just changed my prepaid number to a Newnan exchange back in November. Verizon still has a gaping hole in south central GA. From their coverage maps, they just threw up some PCS/EVDO towers in and around Valdosta. it looks like AT&T is as well... most of the non RadioShack stores in my area that sell AT&T sell them exclusively. Verizon dealers around here only sell Verizon. The third party small guys around here that sell multiple carriers usually sell Boost, TMobile, Alltel, and/or Sprint under the same roof.
yea GA is a certifiable toss up honestly...Alltel if they were to spice some things up and create interest and more metro coverage they could do big things, they will have to buy up a metroPCS or Cricket to do any real damage though.
Don't forget about the 700 Mhz licenses... and or the recent rumors about buying Sprint.... I hope they don't buy sprint who would want to inherit the nextel rebranding...
if alltel buys sprint/nextel i hope they fire everyone and hire all new people. sprint seems to be run by a bunch of huffers.
If Sprint gets sold, the Nextel part could be spun off or sold in parts to other IDEN comapanies like Southern Linc LOL Since Alltel is owned by a private entity, who knows what could happen. But I am not envisioning any full scale buildouts by alltel unless they get plenty of spectrum or acquire some smaller carriers...
sounds rad...check out the other thread i opened for "unlimited discussion" its called "the skys falling..."
