http://compass.t-mobile.com has FANTASTIC coverage maps that are right-on accurate. Its too bad that you cannot see these maps unless you have T-Mobile "Dealer" Username & Password. I've tried my own username and password at the logon screen and it doesn't work. All I get is "Sorry, invalid password entered. Please try again or call 1-877-878-7326 for help." I've called the 877 number and they will not give me a password even though I am a T-mobile Customer. They say that site is only for authorized dealers. I say lets get thousands of people to call this 877 number and bug them until they make it available to all t-mobile and non-t-mobile customers.
If you want to see hou good this site is go to a t-mobile retailer and ask to take a look at the coverage maps on the site first mentioned above. If you know a working possword let us know.

That page is an update to their internal coverage maps. I have access to those maps (kind of...indirectly) and while they are very detailed, they are often out of date too. Coverage changes (improves) faster than those maps are updated. I don't think any carrier wants maps at that level freely available, and I'm sure that other carriers have maps at that level for their employees as well. As you said, go to a TM store and they should show you a map of a location you provide.

I think Carriers should just show Location of Towers in a street map rather than shaded coverage Maps.

Matt, Thank you... is there any way I can also have access to those maps (kind of...indirectly) ? Thought they really were much better than what j. q. public sees.

And Jones: Thank you and I agree. But I cannot even find T-Mobile's Tower Locations or how many they have.

courtland - no, unless you know and employee (hint hint) there's no way to access that information. if you give me an address, I can take a look at a map for you, but that's about it. I'd do more if I could. T-mobile has around 25-30,000 towers by the end of the year. I can't recall the exact number, but I do know they are adding about 4,000 sites this year.

Tower locations is really a useless way to try and predict signal strength in a particular spot because tower range is different from tower to tower. The shaded maps are far more accurate and you can identify in many cases where the tower is by looking at the coverage pattern. I used to have access to those T-Mobile maps at one time. ;)

I know that tower locations don't tell you too much, because you never know how far the tower will reach, etc. Only reason I posted this link was because courtland said that he couldn't even find T-Mobile's tower locations. :D
Too bad you don't have access to those maps anymore...did you used to be t-Mo rep?

Yup, it sure is, even though that site probably doesn't list all of T-Mobile's sites in a specific area since it only states sites available for relocation.
    :)

I had a friend with a T-Mo business account. But he cancelled.

That is only a list of towers that T-Mobile owns, that they have space available for lease to other carriers. It doesn't include towers they rent space from tower companies, etc. - which is most of the towers in my area.

This site was really cool. Someone gave their access code to it on hofo. Too bad it only worked for about 3 days in August. I liked how it showed NO COVERAGE for 20 miles around zip 19977, though there is coverage. They somehow lost 2 towers I guess....

LOL! I remember I took a look at Delaware and based on the green spots, I could count like 40 towers for the entire state! It looks more like T-Mo doesn't have "dead spots", but rather "coverage spots" or "hot spots" in DE as if it was a WiFi network. ;)
