First off, hi everyone, this is my first post.

My question is about t-Mobile. I got a 1-year contract a little over a year ago which expired in May, so I've been month-to-month since then. I went to the T-Mobile shop to see if I could get a new phone or upgrade or something, but I didn't like any of the phones they had, and the cooler ones cost something like $100+ with a 2-year contract.

So I'm wondering if I can just get a good deal on a new phone from somewhere else (i.e. eBay) and just pop my SIM card into the new phone without any problem?

My current (old) phone is a Nokia 6010, so I don't know if I would have any trouble with 3G compatibility or anything like that.

Any insight you guys can give me would be great.

    Thanks!

As long as the phone is unlocked for use on any 1900 MHz GSM network (and preferably also 850 Mhz for romaing with T-Mobile) it will work.

Keep in mind you can also sign a 1 year contract as well, it just adds $50 to the price of the phone.

Thanks for the help guys. But it looks like on the T-Mobile site all the deals are for 2-year contracts?

You've got to call t-mobile or stop by a store in order to get a one year contract. The number is 1-800-866-2453.
