    I just found this site, I wish I knew about it before to ask for comments and equipment. Specially to save research time ;)

    Next week I will traveling to Alaska and I want to make sure my Blackberry will not cause roaming charges over there.

    I called CSR and they have non solid answers and seem to be viewing the same pages I can check on tmobile.com. I was looking for somebody that will say a solid YES or NO, instead of "this says blah blah blah"

    It is clear I will not pay roaming for incoming/outgoing calls. Questions are:

    * Do I still get my family benefit of free tmobile-to-tmobile minutes?

    * Will I have to pay for roaming charges on the GPRS network? I have the Unlimited Blackberry plan.

    Thanks in advance

    I don't think you will pay anything in roaming. If you are on a national Plan, T-Mobile offers FREE roaming and M2M apply on most roaming carriers. The exclusions for free M2M are somewhere on the T-Mobile website.

    Any idea about GPRS/Blackberry service? Will I have to pay roaming charges?

    As far as I know, DATA roaming should be free as well. Hopefully someone else that actually uses T-Mobile can chime in and give us a definite answer.

    One CSR said T-Zones are free but BlackBerry no. That I will incurr $10/Mb. I know BlackBerry is a different world for T-Mobile.

    Thanks for following up. I hope somebody knows the answer.

    Ill be going up to Alaska in August. You'll be roaming on Dobson/CellONE. Your calls should be free. I dont think you will have M2M, your calls will just come out of your minute bucket. As for data, i used the T-Zones service tethered to my laptop while roaming a few months back and wasn't charged. I couldn't find anything on BB Data on the website so it looks like you may be charged that much for using your BB. I would just call CS again and confirm this.

    OK, now that I am back (still trying to organize the pictures) and after getting the bill from T-Mobile I can summarize the facts for future references.

    CURRENT PLAN
    * Family plan with T-Mobile, including no roaming charges
    * Phone1: Blackberry with BES add-on plan
    * Phone2: Blackberry with BIS add-on plan

    FACTS FROM THE BILL
    * Phone service available with Cell/One. Decent coverage even when running away from avalanche or bears (j/k)
    * No roaming charges
    * Free M2M with T-Mobile customers were still free
    * Nights and weekends were free too, even to local numbers in AK
    * No DATA/GPRS roaming charges on any of the two plans (BES & BIS)

    Surely I am glad there were no extra charges applied to my account, even T-Mobile is not the primary carrier in Alaska.

    Hope this helps somebody else in the future!
