    Upcoming changes to T-Mobile plans.

First, as of 2/18, the following upgrades to the Family Time plans (contract extension required):

    $49.99 - 500 whenever, unlimited night/weekend and m2m.
    $69.99 - 1000 whenever, unlimited night/weekend and m2m. (up from 850 in Dec and 900 in January)

Second, in the Sidekick will be offered for prepaid service as well on 2/18. $1 per day for unlimited web, IM, and SMS (evidently whether you use it or not), $0.15 per minute for voice. The prepaid sidekick will be $330 in store and then have a $50 mail in rebate.

Finally, new T-Mobile To Go rates effective March 7:

    $25 130min
    $50 400min
    $100 1000min

Gold Rewards will now be reached at $100, instead of $250, IIRC.

I noticed last week that the national $39.99 plan just added Unlimited Weekends. My $39.99 did not include the weekends

Extraordinary value. I re-signed the contract for another year, same price; more minutes.

Cancelled my wifes' Sprint service and ported the number to T-Mo.

    Now I have two lines.

Customer service says they will soon roam on 850 and already have a handset ready to go.

Why people, with a choice, choose Cingular is one of lifes mysteries........

This is the 1000 anytime right? That changed in January.

CS is usually last to know. Take their comments lightly.

I should have said that I just noticed last week that the $39.99 plan had changed, for all I know could have changed last year.

CS said they had an 850 handset, which one would that be? I was told it would be roaming only. At least they knew enough to say they did not have service on 850.

The roaming disclaimer lent creedence to our conversation.

The 6010 from Nokia directly is 850/1900 but the TM website didn't seem to indicate if theirs was dual band.

I think they will. I think Matt posted something a while ago that said T-Mo will open 850 roaming, and not block 850 roaming on some future phones...I don't have all the info, though. :)

The CEO of TM, Robert Dotson, responded to a question during a presentation in January. Said they are testing 850 roaming, and it was a question of "when" not "if" they offer it.
you can listen here, though it's about 30 minutes in. It is not in the presentation material since it was part of the q and a.

Very nice To Go rates, might be something to look into if I return to the US for a longer period of time.

Here are the Gold Rewards rates:

    $25 gets 150 minutes
    $50 gets 460 minutes
    $100 still gets 1000 minutes

No changes to the $10 cards at this time.

    On quad band phones....

J&R Music World in New York is offering a V3 RAZR quad for $479 with T-Mobile activation. Saw the add in the Circuits section of the N.Y. Times Feb. 17.

My T-Mobile page does not list this phone in California.

Is this phone unlocked or is this a special early release in New York?

I read the advert, deluxe unlocked version. Never saw such a tie in with T-Mobile service, unlocked phone, imagine that.

I'm guessing it's just an independent dealer for TM who bought some unlocked phones. It's fairly common, esp. in NYC from what I've seen. It's not an official TM branded device.

From what colleagues (who have T-Mobile and who initially recommended them) have told me, T-Mobile is #1 with them (and me too). :)

Just patiently waiting for the voicemail upgrade so we can get the oo icon instead of a SMS on a voicemail.
