I will be switching from VZW to cingular in Feb. I have been researching phones since Oct and I am still completly lost with which phone I should get. I would prefer a clamshell, I have read and re-read threads here at WA. I am going to list the things I want and dont want in a phone and would like some input from you guys here at WA.

Things I want in a phone:
    - Reception is obviously the most important, I live in the Dallas/Fort Worth metroplex here in Tx.
    - Easy TXT messaging, I would like a phone that has buttons easy for texting. (All the RAZRs buttons seem to have the same layout and is harder to txt on)
    - Bluetooth capable worth using.
    - Decent battery life, at least 2 days of moderate to light use.
    - Loud Ringer
    - Quad Band

Things I would like in a phone:
    - I hardly play any games but a phone with decent game play when I get bored.
    - Speakerphone that is half way decent, probably wouldnt use it as much.
    - Half way decent "feeling and looking"

    Things I could care less:
    - Camera & Video, that is why I have high end camcorders and cameras for
    - MP3 Players, no need.
    - 3G or Edge, I use a comp for internet and e-mail.

That being said, I am looking at the A707, read tons of stuff on it and was wanting to know how the reception is on it. Everything else I read on it that I need is positive, but found nothing on the reception. I would love for your input, thanks.

If it meats your needs go for it. One thing you can do is go to the store and try their demo models try a fake SMS and see how it feels to you. Try the LG500 and you might like that one too. at many stores they do have active SIM placed in those, try to make a call on each and see how it sounds, test the speaker, ask teh other part if they hear you good or not. Make that as an initial test run and then take the one you choose for many test runs durring the first 30 days.

Sounds good to me, Ill have to try it. I dont know if I have been in a cingular store yet, the only VZW store I have been in they just have the demo (plastic) never asked to see and test a phone so I dont know if they have them or not.

Now what is all this about the Nokia N75, wish they would have it out by Feb sometime.

V3 Razrs are nice, had mine a year with no problems....short of not being happy with the ear piece volume but there is a fix for that.

Currently rolling with an L6, like that as well.

its hard to go wrong with a top end moto, or nokia. i personally like most nokia's, and some moto's.

presently im using a panteck itty bitty phone, and it works for me as a fire phone.

my main phone at the moment is a lg cu500, ive had it since july.

to me it doesent matter what ever one else thinks, its what i like, and am willing to p[ut up with.

    there is no perfect phone.:browani:

ps/ free phones are free for a reason.

Yeah, after reading tons of stuff and searching tons of stuff I am leaning towards the Cingular SYNC. I dont really need all the music players etc, I like some features like when I get bored I like to play games but its rare. Also I might just stick with the 14.99 Media bundle 1000 txt and 5MB so 3G will be for me :browani:

Maybe something will come out before Feb or before my 30 day trial is up and I can always switch if I dont like it.

i have a Sprint MOTO RAZR V3m.........i text a lot...........i usually get dangerously close to my 1000 message limit and i use the T9 texting.......it works really well and i dont have trouble with the buttons.........i havent really tried out the bluetooth with a headset but i have bonded it with my HP iPAQ to exchange files between the two......however you wanna watch out cuz i have heard a lot of people have complained about the distance limitations on RAZR Bluetooth.......apparently with most of the standard MOTO RAZRs the farther you move the headset away from the phone.......the crappier the quality is and all kinds of stuff...........the battery will definitely last.......most MOTOs last about a week on standby i think.......my ringer is very loud as is the speakerphone...........you just want to watch out...........sometimes when i place a call......and i put it on speakerphone before the person picks up the speakerphone wont kick in and they are saying hello and you are saying hello but they cant hear you......you just need to make a call and wait for an answer and then put it on speakerphone.......my RAZR has EV-DO through Sprint Power Vision and that is the equivalent of Cingulars 3G UMTS network......im pretty sure they havent yet made a RAZR that supports UMTS but most support EDGE......camera and video come standard with all of the RAZR line
