This would normally be a stupied question, but from what I've read about Suncom here lately, its not. Can somebody who has successfully done so, explain in detail the best way to do so without getting burned. Thanks!

You'll have to call customer service at least 30 days in advance before your contract runs out to let them know that you will not be self renewing your contract. Tell them to not renew it and they should cancel your service out the day that it runs out.

Some reps might offer offer you to go month by month but turn them down if you really wish to cancel. Just have your service shut off when the contract runs out.

hey that is not true anymore. If you try to get out of the contract after that first year they are supposably letting you out if you ask to be or complain. If you still are having problems getting out of the contract use 9000 min. and they boot you. So if all else fails plug your phone into the charger and call someone or something that you can leave your phone on for like 16 days and whala you are offically going to be sent a letter that says you have to either quit your service or change to one of their other plans.

    Yeah they were pretty good.
Hey i say everyone that wants to quit suncom gets together and we leave our phones on for the entire month. Hey if you get enough people together we might even make the news when their profits drop significantly. Kind of like a boycott sounds like fun. :thumb:

They're not easily letting people of their contract. I was suppose to be out may 1st, but they lied and changed it to may 24th. even though i have documenation that it is may 1st. Customer Service sucks, just as to speaking to the accounting department, the people who have control over cancellation, not CS.
Also, be weary of what date they tell you. If you bought a new phone or changed numbers, this does not change your contract. But if you called to cancel before and you were offered 10$ or 5$ off your monthly plan, than from that day forward one year starts.
DO NOT BE SUCKERED INTO money off your plan. SunCom sucks and I havent seen improvement over the past two years I was with them. They sucker people in with cheap plans, but you rack up roaming that it comes out higher than other providers. Even the Unplan sucks.

I am right there with you. Any company that was trying to enforce rollover contracts is definitly not an ethical company. i have also heard stories from one of their managers about how they shred documents and stuff like that.

Well, I guess I'm really screwed. I've done all of the above. I've already renewed once, I've taken advantage of a discount off my monthly bill, so how do I know when my new renewal date is? I know my origional, but if I've done all the above, then it would have changed and I can't believe Suncom will tell me the truth or they will give me one date and later change it etc. Plus, if I call and request to cancel 30 days prior, how will I know they won't forget I called and renew me anyway. I feel like I'm in quick sand on this one. Theirs too many ways they can get you. Plus, before I renewed the first time, I sent them a letter 60 days out saying that I was not renewing and of course I never heard back from them. I guess I should have fought it then and bailed when I had the chance. Other then sucks to be you, any ideas? :dunno:

dude, my 2 page letter and constant emails on through suncom webpage worked for me. I actually found a couple email addresses of Triton PCS who own part of SunCom...or well sell service through SunCom. They lady that called me was polite and cancelled my account immediately.

Just call up the jerks at suncom, find out your anniversary date. If it sounds bogus, call again and complain that you think the last rep lied to you. I mean, if you know your original date, chances are that you accepted a discount because you were going to cancel once before and they kept you with a discount. therefore, listen out for a date that is prior to your original.

    good luck.
