Cingular Wireless and AT&T Wireless I believe.

Interesting...I had heard that they would have the I-95 corridor open to roaming traffic this month...as well it appears that I-85 between Atlanta and Charlotte is up and running.

If you believe this map, then they are not planning to build out some markets (ie Tri-Cities, TN, Columbia and Wilmington)...it appears they are content to use Cingular as their roaming partner in these markets. Yet another example of how tight Triton and Cingular have become...particularly with respect to TDMA and GSM roaming.

Both AT&T and Cingular are sharing the cost of building GSM coverage across many US highways, so I bet they are involved in this one. This is part of their joint venture.

Parthery I believe that SunCom will build out GSM in all of there markets. I just think those will be some of there last markets to be launched. Right now they seem to be focusing on Virginia which is good since many areas of VA lack GSM coverage now. From the map it looks like Blacksburg and Roanoke will finally be getting GSM in the near future and the first carrier to have GSM in that area will be SunCom.

It's strange that they are using Cingular, their map shows coverage in Hilton Head (Suncom) and partner coverage surrounding, however it shows NO GSM in Beaufort, SC which Cingular has coverage in??? I guess that's why I'm confused about who they have coverage with...Unless Cingular is Roaming on T-Mobile in Beaufort...which is really odd since a Cingular Store opened in Beaufort about six months ago.

Is this going to have any affect on existing users?

No, it shouldn't SunCom will still keep there TDMA network up and they are still a long ways off from there entire network being GSM. This just started, they have a long ways to go.

Thanks for the information.. I just discovered this website and you guys have been extremely helpful!

I have been absolutely dying for the Palm Tungsten W for use on the AT&T Wireless GSM service. I see that SunCom will have coverage in Wilmington, NC soon... Do you guys have any idea when this service will be rolled out in the Wilmington market for purchase? SunCom traditionally has a terrible selection of phones.. A Tunsten W should work on the system, right?
