SunCom faces delisting Oct 2, 2006 BERWYN, Pa.—SunCom Wireless Holdings Inc. has fallen below the minimum requirements for continued listed on the New York Stock Exchange, and the company said it intends to submit a plan to the exchange on how it will boost its market capitalization to meet the necessary minimum. According to a Securities and Exchange Commission, SunCom was notified Sept. 27 that its average market capitalization was at $92.9 million—about $7 million less than the $100 million required for listing on the NYSE. SunCom has 45 days to submit a plan to “demonstrate its ability to achieve compliance with the … listing standards within 18 months.” “SunCom intends to submit such a plan,” the company indicated in the filing. As of Oct. 4, SunCom’s stock will have a “.BC” indicator added to alert traders to the fact that the company is below listing standards. If SunCom doesn’t submit a plan, if the plan isn’t accepted, or if SunCom doesn’t get back into compliance, then the company’s stock will be delisted. SunCom could also have its stock transferred to another exchange. SunCom’s stock has recently been trading at just under $1 per share. SunCom faces delisting
If I remember correctly, I believe that Cingular gave SunCom over a $100 Million extra in the swap for territory during the AT&T wireless purchase. I believe that T Mobile is waiting for them to go belly up.
I agree. Suncom stock is a great value because of that. Suncom isn't just going to close up shop. If things got bad enough another carrier will buy them out to gain towers & subscribers. Personally I think TMO would be doing the current Suncom customers a great service by stepping in and buying them. -Jay
SunCom's stock has been sliding for quite some time now, their stock closed at 79 cents today. Today the stock slide down over 17% from yesterday's price. http://finance.yahoo.com/q?s=TPC
SunCom is a company that refuses to die. Their equipment is old and in disrepair, who would wanna acquire a company like that? TMobile will have to spend $$$$$$ fixing the service after they acquire the company. I suppose theyre waiting on a good price. As a SunCom customer, i absolutely cant wait until the company collapses. SunCom management has done very little to help the company or the customers.
I would venture to say that TMO is waiting till Suncom's value dips below the value of their spectrum. Then it doesn't matter what condition the equipment is in. However, you as a customer have a choice to move to another company as soon as your contract expires. -Jay
Oh i'll definetly be moving on to a better and more reliable company. The only place i've been where the phone actually worked well was Charlotte.
How long till your contract expires? We have 5 here, not counting the prepaids like Virgin, tracfone, & such. -Jay
About a year ago I owned stock in SunCom. I saw it go up around 4 and then start plummeting. I sold at $3. It hasn't been that high since. Less than a month ago it was trading about twice what it is right now. Pathetic!
I wonder what they will submit to show how it will boost it's market capitalization? I do think T-Mobile will jump on them soon.
