"Strongarming" the company Hi all, I've been with my current carrier (ATTWS) for two years now, and am on a local plan, and I'm in the market for a GSM nationwide plan. However, I couldn't get the customer care rep to give me any sort of break on moving to a new nationwide plan, and am willing to pay a few more bucks for it. For all their faults, I really like ATTWS and want to give them every opportunity to retain my business. I know some of my other friends have managed to squeeze out a perk or two out of their respective companies. What have been your experiences and circumstances in strongarming your companies? -Aaron
i don't believe any company will give you a break on your monthly bill so much as maybe give you more incentives on your phone... e.g. give you a discount on one of the more expensive GSM phones... i personally have never heard of getting a deal on your plan but that would be great if i could!
aaronma what kinds of bargains are you looking for??? The minutes for the money are the best with att gsm all plans in my opinion...the phones are ok but priced the same all over... What kind of break are you wanting???
As mentioned in a prior thread, I tried asking ATT for a deal last week. I said like their TDMA coverage, but I really want GSM/GPRS features and this T-Mobile 1000 anytime deal is too hard to pass up. She couldn't come up with anything, just whatever TDMA plans were already on the website, and didn't even mention their GSM stuff... So I have signed up with T-Mobile. Maybe ATT has finally gotten tired of hearing "T-Mobile," because (supposedly) tomorrow ATT will be announcing two new plans for GSM: $40 for 1000 anytime minutes and $99 for UNLIMITED minutes. I have no idea if these are national, regional or what, and have no information beyond that.
Hmm.. Thanks for the heads up, maybe I should wait for tomorrow. I wonder whether the 1000 anytime minutes includes nights and weekends, or if they're gonna pull a T-Mobile and restrict it to weekends. I'm kinda miffed right now at AT&T customer service, because they just out and out lied to me. I was explaining how ATTWS had the worst night hours (9 PM - 6 AM), and they said "everyone else in the industry does it that way". I look up Verizon (8 PM - 6 AM) and Cingular (9 AM - 7 AM). I could care less that they couldn't give me a better deal than what was advertised on their website. I care that they lied to me, and I value customer service and pride myself on loyalty. Just don't know how I can weasel out of my contract right now. -Aaron
Aaron - if you need the nights on T-Mobile you can get them on that plan as an additional option - 6.99, so the total cost is $47. 9p-7a.
actually verizon wireless has 9pm nights in many of there areas Be interesting to see the outcome of the 2 proposed plans (I would guess local plans) Jack
