In contrast to the Electronista prediction, this was not released on the 10th and is not out today, at least on the T-Mo website. Has anyone been into a T-Mo store to check? I'd be curious to play with this phone. SW
It seems to me that T-Mobile wasn't specific about which September 10th the phone would be released on. It could mean 2010 for all we know...
I called CS to ask about the phone among other things, and the rep had no idea what I was talking about. An associate at a corp. store said october 1st. We'll just have to wait and see.
It's funny that we know more about what's going on with T-Mobile than a majority of the people who work there.
This article is a great find that exaplins things. http://forums.wirelessadvisor.com/wireless-news/65270-t-mobile-3g-delays.html
so T-Mobile bought spectrum that was currently being used by the government and they knew this and still got it?..............that seems a little strung out to me
Here's another status update from one of the T-mo engineers over at HoFo. It looks like its going to be a long wait cause the gov't is taking their time vacating the spectrum. If anything, this allows them to buildout more before officially launching service. The 2nd thing seems to be equipment delays, the manufacters can't supply it fast enough to meet t-mo's demands. Those looking for 3G? Status? -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- In light of the recent thread pointing out the news article about tmobile not having access to the licenses they purchased i wanted to release some information. BTW, i was going to post this in the 3G sticky but it was closed. In any case, 3G looks like late 2008 at this point if the licensing situation doesn't change. T-Mobile is testing in its launch markets at this time, the equip is in place. However, w/o the licenses they can not launch. Corporate believes that puts the launch at late 2008 like i said earlier. Some of you probably already figured this out, and the situation could improve at any time but this is the status right now. Jeff Ok, I will update you with what I know. The big holdup on spectrum clearing is in, try not to be surprised, Washington DC. It is being used by the government agencies as said earlier such as the FBI. It can be very difficult to work with these agencies because they are extremely sensitive agencies. From what I am told, there has been significant progress in working with them and they do not foresee this holding us up. There are other hold-ups at the moment. We are playing some major catch-up right now trying to meet our deployment goals. From what I understand, our biggest issue right now is getting the new equipment. TMOJon
am i correct in saying that the 3rd and 4th quarter were the original projected deployment dates for T-MObile 3G in the first place???
yeah................well like it was mentioned at least when they do receive the licenses they will already have a lot of the area covered already with 3G.............not too much more work
