    Hey,
    I subbed here a week before even GETTING my V3M so I would have a good knowledge base going into this. I've searched, scanned, learned, and seem'd, MPT'd and BitPim'd my Razr into submission with all your help.
    BUT.....
    Can someone point me to a thread page/post# dealing with turning off the startup sounds? I need quiet starts and shutdowns and I know its GOT to be n here somewhere.

    Thanks!

    ~Jack

    Try this.

    Edit/replace the file ui_start_up_mono.mp_ located in the /motorola/shared/system folder.

    There is a seem that controls that. I'm not sure exactly where its listed, but check your seem map again - It's there. I've disabled all that stuff on my V3.

    Jay, all I found in my list and on Mark's Forum is the the following

    Motorola Animation on Startup

    offset = 001d
    bit = 3
    setiing = 0 (0=enabled; 1=disabled)

    But nothing on the sound itself. When you turn this off the animation stops, but the sound is still there.

    That is for the V3m.

    Really getting confused. The SEEM for V3m start with:

    Bytes (h) = 0000
    SEEM = 2742
    Record = 0001

    Where did you get

    SEEM = 004a_0001

    is for the V3M phone?

    I guess Motorola re-wrote the code for the CDMA model. As far as I knew the same seem map was used on all models. If they did re-write the code it will take a while for the seems to be decoded by various hackers. It may be that the mod you are looking for hasn't been discovered yet.

    I'm thinking it has not been discovered yet. Here is the reason.

    I was told that Bytes (h) = 0000, Seem = 2742, Record = 0001 it the 'load' for the V3m. I found this today.

    Chaging the BANNER on the V3m from 'VERIZON WIRELESS' to 'whatever you like'

    SEEM the phone to:
    Bytes (h) = 0020
    Seem = 2771
    Record = 0001
    Click the LOAD FROM PHONE button.
    Change "VERIZON WIRELESS" to anything you want, but start at V in VERIZON and do not go past S in WIRELESS.

    So, now there is two different SEEM steups for the V3m. I have not yet tested the Banner change setup yet. Will let you know the results later on tonight..

    The Banner SEEM edit does NOT work for the V3m. All you get is "VERIZON" without the "WIRELESS". Also, P2K displays "E815" for the SEEM.

    So I can say it is for the e815 and not the V3m phone.

    Back to square one. :)

    Ok, Thanks. I've been shying away from answering ?'s on the CDMA V3 model, and now I know why. In the past the seem map was the same for GSM and CDMA. It may be that the new GSM model to be released may also use this "new" map, or maybe it is just a CDMA thing, but I doubt it.

    SEEM 004a_0001

    Okay, when I load this seem from the phone, it's absolutely blank.
    What should the byte(h) setting be? I'm using 0000.

    **all offsets are HEX**
    **no bit manipulation here, just change the actual value in the offset**

    No idea what this means......sorry. I'm no pro. (yet)
    THanks for the help!

    Figure out the SEEM for the "VERIZON WIRELESS" banner.

    bytes (h) = 0024
    Seem = 296a
    record = 0005

    Do NOT change anything before the "V" or after the "S".

    Be sure to save before making changes. Press on the 'save to file' button in P2K and give a filename when prompted.

    Jay, according the SEEM Info screen, this works on the V710, E815, V3C and V3M. It worked on my V3m. I cannot verify this for the other three phones, though.

    It really depends on your software. When using a hex editor to make the changes to your phone most editors give you the option of either manually turning specific bits on or off, or if you know exactly what you want to do you can change the hex value iteslf, and it will calculate the bits from that. What this is saying is don't try to manipulate the bits, just enter the new value you desire.

    How can I get to that path? Will I need BitPIM or can it be done with MPT4.x?

    You will have to use BitPim. Remember do NOT delete the file but replace it. Also make a backup copy of it before you replace it, just in case you need to restore it.

    Everywhere I have read when you use BitPim to make sure you DO NOT DELETE certain files, but I believe if you accidentally do so, you can fix this. I was workin on changing the Verizon logo displayed when the phone is fliped open. I accidentally deleted the verizon.gif file. I attached a new file with VERIZON.gif, and it didnt work, reason was because it was in all capital letters. I inserted the file verizon.gif, and the phone recognized the file name and displayed the image again. The point is, if you delete something liek that, just create a file with the exact name, so when the phone looks for the file and it matches EXACTLY, everything should be fine.

    That being said, when u play around with the ui_start_up_mono.mp_ located in the /motorola/shared/system folder, just create a 2 second blank mp3 clip, and overwrite the existing, and voila, there is ur silent startup sound ;)

    You are extremely LUCKY!!

    There is about 4 others and 6 that have pm'd me because they accidently deleted the verizon.gif and when they replaced it - it was spelled 'exactly' the same. It would not work.

    A couple had even backed theirs up before they made changes and it still would not work.
