I don't think it happens very often. Sprint co-locates with Nextel, AT&T & Cingular pretty often here in So. CA but I only know of one tower shared by Sprint & Verizon.
The site added is in Kenton, about 4-5 miles away from my moms house. It's pretty tall, and behind an old elementary school (don't know what it is now). They built that sucker, QUICK! In less than a month seriously, and it was active as of last week when we drove through there on our way to MD, and eventually Myrtle Beach (eww Alltel) and then Atlanta for the Peach Bowl (cousin goes to Clemson). I showed some of you a microwave tower of Kenton and I thought it was Sprint/ATT, well I was wrong, it is Verizon/ATT, but Verizon isn't active yet.....they are so slow! This might help coverage at my mothers, since it's about 3 miles away . Too bad I only have Verizon problems at school! EDIT: Larry, I was fooling around on sprintsitesusa.com and found a weird tower. Doesn't seem like a normal Sprint tower to me. LInk If that doesn't work, it is site PL03XC241. Just doesn't seem to do much as a tower.
Yeah I saw it. It's just another variation of a tower called a lattice tower and does have the normal microwave panels at the top. Why they chose to build that type of structure I have no idea. But I have seen those on occassion out here as well.
Heres by theory larry. This site is intended onlyfor the use of other carriers to find sprint towers to co-locate on. Maybe this site only lists the towers that sprint is going to allow co-location on, and they dont bother listing the other towers. Could that be it because i know a lot of towers are not big enough to allow co-location, like hidden ones.
Yes that is certainly true. Not all towers are feasible for co-location. But I'm referring to towers that I know will be offered for co-location in the future. They're just lazy about adding them as quickly as they used to.
NY mostly gets rooftop and building mounted sites not towers. That's why you see very few listed for NY.
That is true. Also becuase of that reason, i am suprised that the new tower listed for NY (in queens) is an actual tower, and not on a building. Strange. The only other tower i can think of for any carrier in queens was recently taken down and put on a building.
