Good news for those of you who thought Sprint was too high in this price range. Starting April 4th (I think) Sprint will be reducing their $45/mo for 500 minutes plan to $40 to better compete with the other carriers. I think this is just what they needed to do.
That's good news. That $5 overlap on every plan makes them hard to compare to other carriers. Verizon needs to do the same.
I think the $40 area is the only area where Sprint was not being competitive. Their higher end plans are very competitive with what you get and the options you can add on. Plus their newer and better selection of phones is making them a better option now for many.
Yes, I agree with you. We are very happy with Sprint. Verizon lost out on our money, but oh well....Sprint was just better, plus they have a tower on my campus.
I agree too. No company (that I know of) can come close to matching Sprint's higher end ($100+) plans.
Factor in some of the other things they offer such as the best data service, Ready Link, new 2 way SMS, and $5 off network roaming and Sprint is looking very good now.
Ok here are all the confirmed changes that are going to take effect 4/4-5/15 1. 500 F/C plan will lower from $45 to $40 2. $100 F/C plan will reduce from 2000 min to 1800 min 3. 2500 F/C plan will increase from $115 to $125 4. 3500 F/C plan will increase from #135 to $145 Readylink by itself = $10 Readylink and vision pack = $20 Readylink, vision pack, videomail = $25 Area wide plan and 7pm n/w promotion effective til 5/15 2 mo unlimited promotion ends 4/3 You CAN add-a-phone to the $40 500 min plan for $20. Plan Swap guarantee, you can change your service plan within 3 months without renewing a contract. Handset price changes VM4500 $349.99 RL2000 $199.99 As you can see some will be happy with the new changes while others won't be.
I think most wont be, the only good change i see is the $5 off on the F/C 500 min plan, and being able to change your plan within 3 months.
Tony, are you serious? What about the price drop on two phones, RL and Vision both for $20, and the ability to add a phone for $20 to the $40/month plan now. That's going to make a lot of people happy.
Yeah...as soon as the free RL promo expires you can bet I will switch the $15/mo RL plan to the $10/mo plan on my wife's line.
$40 plan unlimited roaming for $5. I'll switch I am on the $40 plan with ATT and pay more than $5 in roaming
Just so you are clear it isn't really unlimited roaming, but 50% of your actual usage each month. It's basically unlimited though because if you used 200 roaming minutes and 175 non-roaming, you just make a call at night and leave it connected until your non-romaing usage is over 50%.
I can't imagine using more than 50% of my minutes off network. Anyone who does that should probably not be using Sprint. I think I have incurred maybe a total of 10 roaming minutes in the past 5 months. Sprint's coverage is very good everywhere I go.
I agree. The only situation I can imagine is that if someone got sent away on busiuness for a month or two. And even then people report that SPrint will let you get away with one or two violations before they pull the plug.
so let's say if i go with a new plan come April 4th, will i lose my 2 months of unlimited calling since my contract is new? from my understanding the unlimited minutes promo is over on April 3rd.
You will probably lose them. I wouldn't be in any hurry to switch, I am sure the new plans will be around at least a few months.
true, the only reason why i want to switch now is because i will be going into AZ and i don't have roaming with the F/C Area Wide Plan.
Umm.. Tmobile 99.99 = 2500 any time + unlimited nights an weekends. 129.99 = 5000 any time + unlimited nights an weekends. options Unlimited Tzones = 4.99 w/o corporate email, 9.99 with Text @ 6.99/month for 1000 M2M @ 6.99/month Nextel 199.99 = Unlimited EVERYTHING ( for thos who use over 6000 minutes per month peake this is the best option.)
Now, let's say you go over 50% minutes off-network because you were on vacation for a week in a place where Sprint was roaming. Do you think you get kicked out because of that? As far as I know, there is no automatic system that kicks people out as soon as they hit 51% off-network minutes. Probably there's a flag posted in your account automatically to alert Sprint, but the decision to kick you out is probably made on a case by case basis if they determine that you went over 50% an abusive amount of times.
No they won't kick you off for doing that. From what I hear it has to happen for 3 months before you raise a red flag and just get warned about it.
You know, its realy simple to get around this. If you live somewere thats not roam, before you go to sleep call your cell from your landline (asuming you have one..or vice versa) and play a few CD's /Mp3's one way tpo keep the audio chanel busy all night. (plug phone into charger first). Viola instant 240 - 480 of peak non roaming minutes to balance the equation. .....Hmm...Someone could use this method to work in a roaming area and use Sprint service anyway.
SPRINT: 2000 a/t, unlimited n/w TWO lines of service Unlimited Vision (internet) and Ready Link (PTT) on both lines unlimited picture and video mail on both lines unlimited SMS on both lines unlimited M2M $130.00/mo (plus I get a 15% discount, so I actually pay $110.50 + tax) Like I said, no one comes close, as I will never use more than 2000 minutes in a single month. Now if I had only one line there would be other options, but for two or more lines of service I think anyone is hard pressed to beat Sprint.
