Sprint now has rev A coverage maps. they arent on the coverage map tool yet. have to use the old style maps for now http://www.sprint.com/business/products/products/evdoEnterZip.jsp
Interesting. It's funny because I had been checking those maps every morning looking for this but forgot to today.
When you're in a bad spot, like Sprint/Nextel currently is, I guess it's important to light some fire under some to make sure you get ahead of the curve.
WOW My area they just turned on and are tweaking as we speak is Rev A. And the map is pretty accuate too. The bad thing is I am moving down to Fort Mohave soon and it looks like it's still 1X, hopefully not for long.
Eh, who really cares. Compitition is good. I just want Rev A, cheap plans, and good phones. Don't be dissing Verizon.
yep cheap plans and good phones...........although im very surprised that Rev A is this far built out as it is.........they already have it in Philly and are building it out to my area in Reading.......
I'm very impressed at the speed that they're going on this. It appears to be going much faster than the original EV-DO. But I assume it's fairly easy to upgrade the sites to Rev. A?
Sprint really is very aggressive. They even show EVDO at the Alta ski resort here. They definitely are the first carrier to offer high speed internet there. I'm impressed!
I agree as my area is going from 1X to Rev A. The last six weeks my 700wx is flip flopping between the two, and I still can't use EVDO.
yeah.....thats the one thing about upgrades..........when they add EDGE or EV-DO to a GPRS or 1x site.......it switches back and forth between the two and most of the time.....they are useless.....
In my case 1X isn't useless, just got to make sure my connection is active. The thing I hate about this is that it kills my battery. If I don't put my 700wx on the charger before I go to bed I will have a dead phone in the morning. And it takes the 700wx four hours to charge.
wat i was pointing out was that during the upgrade process.....the service icon may be up but that doesnt necessarily mean it will work
In my case that is correct when my phone is showing EVDO. But it flips so regularly that it isn't a major PITA.
yeah......i already have EV-DO in my area but im not sure if it is Rev A.............will service go on and off during a tower upgrade when going from EV-DO Rev 0 to Rev A?
Yes for roughly 10-30 minutes. But the upgrade are being done during the maintenance window and once it's completed it will still show EVDO on your phone. It won't bounce unless you're changing to a NONEVDO cell.
Roughly the same amount of time providing all the provisioning is done on the switch and the T1 has been tested.
ohh.....i was under the impression that it took a day or two.....ive heard stories on here about people with Cingular who have had problems that have lasted that long.....a day or two......is the upgrade from GPRS to EDGE or UMTS..........a little more time consuming?
