My home is now shown as being in full dark green, which is the strongest signal strength. There are no new towers shown on the map, and when I turn off my Airave coverage is no better than it was in the past. Why would Sprint decide to be more deceptive, and depict excellent coverage where coverage is in fact less than stellar? What bothers me about this is that it used to be far more honest.
Wirelessly posted (Mozilla/5.0 (SymbianOS/9.1; U; en-us) AppleWebKit/413 (KHTML, like Gecko) Safari/413 es70) As odd as it sounds, is there a possibility that they've started to include Airaves on their coverage maps?
I should hope not! And the change is way too much for just one Airave...maybe all my neighbors have them too. lol
The maps have gone back and forth between light green and drak green in many places for a few years now. I'm suprised this hasn't happened to your area before. I think it's just a quality control mistake that keeps happening.
Yeah, hopefully it isn't related to the fact that I cannot restrict access to my Airave. That would be rotten if Sprint is intentionally overriding settings to improve their footprint.
I'm sure the Airave has nothing to do with it. I have seen my area go from dark green to light green to medium green and back to dark green again. It changes every time they update the maps.
An Airave doesn't improve Sprint's footprint at all. It is designed to provide coverage inside to one resident only. The range on these things is just not that good for Sprint to consider altering their maps. Trust me guys.
Found out the Airave is being forced into open mode by Sprint because of an "issue" where phones that are not on the "Allow" list cannot make calls when in close range of the Airave.
Thanks. I had a feeling that the Airave would cause these type of problems. Hopefully they fix all of the bugs real soon. It would also be nice if they would allow Virgin Mobile phones access.
Coverage looks the same on the long island maps, and I have been keeping screen shots of the significant updates for a long time. Too bad they havent placed any new tower markers in a while, quite possible because they simply arent putting any up.
It's not for that reason. A new cell site just went up in Hollywood at 6311 Romaine St. 3 weeks ago. It was never on the web site as either a future or new site. So if that one wasn't I wonder how many others weren't. But no doubt that they have greatly decreased the new sites from what they were a year or two ago due to budget cuts.
Looks like sprint has updated their maps again. The maps look more conservative, and actually kind of pathetic. Long Island just looks terrible. Attached is my long running collection of updates of the maps, ever since its start. Includes updates from 2 locations on long island. Top is oldest, bottom is newst in the 2 rows.
