Re: Sprint Razr 2 V9M realease date!!

I think you are right...if only because the people that would sign up with a CDMA carrier probably knew they wouldn't need to make use of heavy amounts of international roaming or they would have selected a GSM carrier for that reason.

As for the size, my BB8830 is not very thick at all, only .08" thicker than the v9m will be when it is closed, but then again bar phones don't have the "wasted" vertical space that clamshells have.

If anyone was wondering I can confirm that this does have 65,000k resolution on the inside screen.

Understand your point, but I think many people want to take "their" phone, not have to get another one to bring along.

Re: Sprint Razr 2 V9M realease date!!

Or maybe the fact that they have only carried a few (like 2 or 3) high-end phones until now also affects that they have not sold many. Put GSM global support in more mainstream phones like the RAZR2 and the new Katanas and I would bet it would attract customers that might otherwise only go AT&T or T-Mo. Or retain some who are thinking of leaving due to this.

why would it make it thick? If the V9 can have both GSM/EDGE quad band, and WCDMA (UMTS, HSPDA) in the same phone, why can't the CDMA versions also be dual technology/quad band?

Re: Sprint Razr 2 V9M realease date!!

I think it's because the phone IS CDMA/GSM, the guts would be a little thicker, versus regular CDMA or GSM phones. It wouldn't be like a brick, but all of the other Global phones prior to the BB 8830 were a little on the chunky side, not extremely, but not exactly svelte either.

Because the RAZR2 series is a little thinner than the RAZR, I'm guessing if they were to add a CDMA/GSM combo, it would make the phone slightly thicker than the normal versions. I could be wrong though. :)

That is a good point about the internals becoming bigger.

    By the way 2 days.

Well it looks like there have been some people on the web reporting that they have infact ordered this phone. I am sorry but I call BS on this one. Until I start to see people with pictures of it in their hands then I will start to believe them.

Well perhaps they were allowed to order early and the shipments will arrive on release day? Maybe you should call telesales!

I'm not sure CrystalTalk is needed for the CDMA version. The GSM versions have this capability to reduce backround noise. The CDMA versions already have an enhanced voice quality out of the box.

CNET says Moto purposely left CrystalTalk out of the CDMA versions because it wouldn't have an enhancing effect.

I hardly think you are alone in despising the slow menus on the v3m. I think it is a universal feeling except for those that don't know any better. :)

Yeah can you imagine if someones first phone was a razr with the lag. Then they went to another phone they would not know what to do with themselves lol.

Way to go Sprint...the first company to offer a phone that will probably be quite popular and they aren't even ready to showcase it when it goes on sale. Oy!

It won't help them any if they wait until everybody else has theirs before they start showcasing this phone.

Maybe in the coming week we'll hear them tout it more.

My only guess is that perhaps they have a limited supply, and if that is the case, maybe Sprint decided it's better not to showcase the phone than it is to have a bunch of angry people waiting for their backorders to be fulfilled.

Are they going to retract their statement regarding the 262k QVGA screen? Not that most people would care.... But some of the NERDS are mad!!! :)

At least its still QVGA even if it's on 65k colors. Maybe battery life will be protected?

My Pearl is 65k QVGA and the screen looks great IMHO.
