Anyone out there know the particulars about Sprint PCS coverage in Baja California -- specifically Tijuana, Rosarito Beach and Ensenada? Making a trip down there in August and wondering if my Kyocera 2255 -- which is on Sprint's US National plan -- will work. Are there any additional charges since those areas are outside the United States? Sprint's Web site doesn't seem to have this information.

    Thanks.

Yes Sprint has digital roaming available on their Pegaso PCS network in most major cities in Mexico. You should be fine with your 2255 set to automatic. Roaming charges will be billed at $.39/min +.25 LD. This rate applies to those of us based out of California. I'm not sure if it's the same for other states or not.

Yes I can confirm the digital roaming down there. You will need to dial the US international prefix before dialing a # in the US of course. You might want to call SPCS to see what the international long distance rates will be to call the US if you will be doing so. If you are not from the So. Cal. area (to get the .39 cents/min rate) it might be worth it to add the $10 bundle of roaming minutes (50) to your plan if you will be using it much. Long distance will still be extra.

    Thanks for the information.

    A couple more questions:

What IS the US International Code that must be dialed to place calls back to the U.S. from Baja? And would the dialing sequence then simply be US code+area code+7digit phone #.?

Also, my Sprint PCS home area is greater Los Angeles, Calif., since I am in Palm Springs. Does that qualify my plan for the 39 cents/min. roaming + 25 cents/min. LD rate for calls made back to the U.S.? I had heard that some other wireless companies only give border-area customers, such as those from San Diego, those types of deals for cross-border usage.

I have tried to call Sprint PCS several times without success. In fact, I have only ever been able to get a live rep once (to handle a billing issue). Luckily I haven't had any problems with my service. I'd try communicating via the Internet, but has anyone else noticed that the Sprint PCS Web site link to access account information is not functioning? If anyone knows of another link that will allow me to log on to my personal account I'd appreciate the address. The one provided via the Web site (https://manage1.sprintpcs.com/Manage) does not work.

    Thanks again in advance.

The US calling code is 011. Your understanding of how to use it is correct. You should receive the .39 cent roaming since you are considered part of the LA area.

The web site has been working for me lately. Have you tried deleting your cookies/web cache? If you can't reach a rep due to Claire , try saying 'Customer Service Representative' several times until you get one.

Also, set your phone to 'Automatic' under the roaming section if it isn't already.

The web site link to view account info works for me. Another thing to remember is to use IE instead of Netscape. IE works much better on the SPCS web site.

I'm still unable to use the Sprint PCS Web site logon link. I haven't tried it from home; perhaps IT here at work reconfigured the firewall in a way that is defeating the logon link. All the other links on the SPCS Web site DO work, however.

I had been able to logon and receive account info from here at work in the past; it has only been in the past week or so that it has constantly given me a "page not available" message.
