Sprint "Night And Weekend" Billing problem

I'm just testing the water here before I run off and file complaints w/ the FCC. I recieved my sprint bill today for my and my fiance's phone. If we don't go over, my bill is supposed to be $65. well, this month it was $218 Damn! last month I went over and I just payed the $148 bill and reamed my fiance out for calling me too much durring the day. This time it was so high, and I knew that I didn't talk that much during my peak minutes. So I went on to the web site and got my call log. I discovered that 7 calls were listed as being made at 8:59 thereby making the entire durration of the calls under the regular minutes. I'm not a massacist, I'm not made of money, why would I call one minute before the call would be essentially free. Simple, I didn't. Every night, I watch the display on my phone like a hawk and wait for it to click over to 9 before dialling. I have never made a call at 8:59. I called Sprint, waited the customary 20 minutes before talking to someone, and then really got into it. Finally I spoke to the manger who told me to go to the Sprint store and get my phone tested to make sure that the time isn't wrong. Before I even go, I know that there is nothing wrong with the phone! because the phone doesn't have a clock built into it, the time is supplied by the network, by sprint themselves, the time on the handset is the master time. If I can't go by that time then what can I go by? I'm confident that the time stamp on the billing is out of sink with the time posted on the network, fuc#ing me, and I'm sure many other people ourt of a lot of money. That's out and out fraud, consumer fraud, coorprate fraud and mail fraud. Let me know if any of y'all have encoutered similar problems, and maybe it'll be time to lodge formal complaints w/ the powers that be . . . maybe even class action suit time to get restitution for improper billing (I'm not looking to make money, just preserve the money I have instead of spending it on Bogus charges) rest assured, I'm not going to be paying $218 this month. Everybody pay careful attention to your statements, and if you see any problems like I did, let's put Sprint's Feet to the fire.

I didnt read your whole post, but I noticed you said 8:59

If you start a call at 8:59 it will continue to use your anytime minutes even if it is after 9:00. All wireless distributors are like that.

Mabey you should wait till 9:01 sheeese. Who in the world actually sits there and watches the time on the phone till it counts down to 9pm to make a call. Mabey you and your fiance need to get unlimited pcs to pcs calling for $5 a month. Mabey that will help ya'lls motor-mouths.

If you are absolutely certain that your call was made at 9PM instead of 8:59. Then by all means file a complaint with whoever you feel necessary. I have never encountered a problem like this, so it sounds a bit odd to me. Only way you can really prove your case is if you have someone from the FCC make a call with you at 9PM on the dot, then check your usage either by waiting for your bill, or having a rep (preferably from a store) check your usage inquiry. If it matches, then there is no error in the system. Your situation is hard to prove with just your word.

The sprint statement is anytime minutes go from 7AM-9PM. So maybe you need to wait till 9:01 before it goes into nighttime minutes. That was just a guess. I dont know the details up to the very minute. Can anyone else comment on this? Idiotech?

    Best of luck!

It may boil down to how often the phone's time gets updated and if the phone's clock is slowing down between updates. Why not just wait a few extra minutes before starting your calls?

There is a thing called Keygaurd and Key Lock!, use it!. Tell me What phone you have, and I'll tell you how to remove the IP address, so you phone can't even access the netwrk through WW.

9:01 is definitely the solution because as I tell all my customers "Night/Weekend Minutes are from 9:00-7:00" and I always insist on making the call after 9, therefore at 9:01...if you want to be on the safe side, call at 9:05...if you do not have detailed billing, request it, keep a log of when you made the call(just the nighttimes cause daytime would drive you nuts if you did that) and then you can compare your log with the detailed billing to see if or not sprint pcs is making the error. If it's happening again even when you're making the calls at 9:05 then sprint is defintely making the error! The time can be trusted over the phone, that was just a cheap attempt to get you to have to pay the bill just like the old "oh, we're upgrading the towers in that area" or "we'll upgrade the software on the phone" as excuses to why you may be experiencing any problems with the service! And even if sprint made the mistake of producing an earlier time than what it truly was, then since that's sprint fault, you shouldn't have to pay! Good luck, you have a tough fight ahead of you!
