    Sprint Nextel To Buy Northern PCS For $312.5 Million

    Sprint Nextel, continuing a string of buyouts of affiliated companies, on Wednesday said it agreed to acquire Northern PCS Services LLC, a Minnesota provider of Sprint PCS services, for $312.5 million.



    The agreement, which includes an unspecified amount of assumed debt, is expected to close in the third quarter.

    Northern PCS, of Waite Park, Minn., serves small and mid-size markets in Minnesota, North Dakota, Wisconsin and Iowa. With 2006 revenue of $130 million and 240 employees, Northern PCS serves more than 167,000 direct wireless subscribers and more than 69,000 reseller subscribers in a coverage area of more than 1.8 million people, Sprint Nextel said.
