Yeah, I agree with you. Just once I'd like to see a group of investors that would just come out and admit to the world that they were stupid and made a mistake on their gamble (that is what investing is right,GAMBLING?), and take the HIT themselves, rather than penalizing the hard working people that built the company in the first place! Actually, now that I think of it, maybe they aren't so stupid? Let the stock fall lower & lower, so they can afford more for the recovery process? After all, investing is all about being in it for the long haul. Not "what have you done for me lately".
I think Consumerist.com said it best: If there's one word that always springs to mind when we think of Sprint, it's "overstaffed."
My point was that these people are not switching to another carrier that has PTT, that feature simply is not the most important for them anymore.
Exactly monthy plans have dropped dramatically since the late 90's and early 2000's when a cheap PTT option was appealing. I couldnt care less I find Nextel phones annoying with all the beeps and garble over a loud speaker, its even worse if you dont anwers the PTT and the phone keeps on beeping.
Where I live everytime I hear those Nextel beeps I know the drug dealers are around. Although they actually use Boost. I can't imagine any of those ghetto kids have any sort of credit to get on a monthly plan.
Drug Dealers aye?? When I hear this beep I know a contractor is around. I try to convince them to try and use something else lol like Mobile to Mobile.
Speaking of Boost, Sprint is really pushing that service around here now! There are billboards popping up everywhere. I see more Boost billboards than I do Sprint or Nextel.
What is SERO? Secondly, I think Sprint must do an overhaul in the customer service area as well as the closed mindedness about the distribution channel. I work for a Master Dealer and it seems as though the indirect sales managers are happy with the small amount of dealers they do have in the Midwest. They think working with the dealer already in place will create numbers but as we all know this will not happen, because it starts with the indirect account managers who, for the most part, work from home. You also have the Nextel "old guys" thought process that B2B will create their numbers in the indirect channel, as almost everyone has stated Nextel is dead and lets move on with "Sprint". The line-up is the first stride. Just a heads up, Nextel changed the "PTT" to "Direct Connect". Have a great Day!!!!
Around here the bulk of those using Nextel are Salvadoran. You hear the beep then a really loud, garbled conversation in Spanish. -Jay
SERO = Sprint employee referral offer. Better rate plans with more included than the traditional plans being offered. Sprint Employee Referral Offer
PTT is just used as a common term as it has been around since the invention of 2 way radio back during before WWII. The term Direct Connect makes no sense it you think about it, but sounds better than PTT or some of the other creative names used. Speaking of Boost they are even pushing it up here in Michigan, but not Nextel branded products. I remember first seeing them out in Sacramento and thinking what the heck is that. They had the stupid "where ya at?" billboards up all over the place.
Massive customer losses force Sprint Nextel to cut jobs, stores Massive customer losses force Sprint Nextel to cut jobs, stores - RCR Wireless News
On a mostly unrelated note, what happens with Southern Linc's IDEN network when Nextel finally gets replaced? Regardless of other IDEN use, I would think Motorola would have a hard time supporting IDEN after Nextel's gone.
"Longtime telecommunications veteran Dan Hesse, who was hired as CEO last month, aims to tighten control over corporate expenses and demonstrate new urgency to investors about Sprint's seriousness in improving the company's fortunes," When is Sprint not Sprint? This actually happened..... "Hey, we just got these phones while travelling, and one of them is defective - it doesn't take a charge!" (Sprint storefront rep) "Where did you get them?" "Somewhere North of (blank), we called Sprint and they said to come here and you would replace it". (Sprint storefront rep) "We are not Sprint... We are SHENTEL (Shenandoah Tel), They were mistaken"...... "But.... they said you were Sprint and to come here, how come they said that?" (rep) " They were mistaken......" The storefront representative then proceeded to get in a raging argument with a Sprint rep on OUR working cellphone.... ridiculous and completely childish - and we're suppose to keep Sprint/Nextel as a carrier? You're joking right? Trying to cancel (30 day period) WAS A COMPLETE ABORTION!!!!!!! Sprint needs to go out of business and put everyone out of their misery..... Subscribers and workers. Dan Hesse needs to be a common subscriber, NOT an investor to figure out what's wrong - let him thrash around as a common customer that has become a nightmare-scape of wronged consumers. First order of business - get rid of these idiots Shentel, they're not helping. Second order of business - Make up your mind on who you are - the consumer is getting tired of this BI-POLAR behavior.... MAKE UP YOUR MIND AND SERVICE YOUR PRODUCTS! morons......
Not at all surprised Sprint is in trouble. Last year after TWO HOURS of being shuffled from department to department after calling "Customer Care" and getting nothing even close to an intelligent response to my query I went to a TMobile store, got a free phone and ported my number over. Many of my co workers have dumped Sprint as well.
Wow, how were you able to tell they are Salvadoran? do they carry a sign? Around my area the ones that use Nextel are mainly contractors and business owners.
In the DC area most of the hispanic population is Salvadoran. Of my hispanic employes (I have over 20) I'd say at least 95% are Salvadoran, and I only have a couple from elsewhere. -Jay
Interesting, i thought most Salvadorans had migrated to the LA area, if that's the case most hispanic restaurants around that area must be "pupuserias"....
Please pardon my audacity but how does this informative cultural discussion have anything to do with the original subject of this thread?
Yes, we do have a lot of those... Me gusta pupusas de queso... You're right Charlyee, this has slid off on a tangent. Can you ever forgive me for participating in this? -Jay
A lot of my employees are Sprint/Nextel, then there's a handfull of ATT & TMO. I think there's only 1 or 2 of my employees that have Verizon. -Jay
