According to their website Sprint will have the KRZR in November. That's Alltel & Verizon on 10/5/06 and Sprint in November, all CDMA, but none of the GSM carriers have released the KRZR. What gives?
...well, since it's a quad-band device, they don't offically have to release them for customers to own/use them. I could by it today and just pop in my SIM card, but I am not keen on Moto products.
Im jealous, I like the black KRZR, better than the grey one. Why does Alltel always have to get grey......:O
Yup, my brother did just that about three weeks ago... I'm just mystified that no US GSM carrier (Cingular) has launched the KRZR. I don't know... I like the black one better, too.
You must be nutz...at least Alltel left your UI alone...I had that worthless standard UI Verizon installed....returned that junk last week.....wanna see the sprint one..Some changes may be a comin...
I can't wait to see these Moto phones for Sprint. But I would like to see some of the low to mid level phone too. A v190/195 would be perfect for my mom. That way I don't have to change our family plan, as she wants to go with Nextel.
Yeah, it'd be nice to have a black KRZR with Alltel's UI... grey isn't bad, I just prefer black. We got the grey RAZR, too, not the black one. Only Cingular has the black one, and it's been out for months. I wan't a black RAZR and a black KRZR and I don't want to change carriers... is that too much to ask?
Well that's not going to stop me from getting one... I do like the black one the best as well, and Sprint has the Sero plans....hm????
So far, here are my problems with the CDMA KRZR, as opposed to the GSM version. The external touch screen MP3 controls are cool, but are really more of a novelty than anything else. They make the fingerprints on the shiny surface worse. The CDMA version only has a 1.3 megapixel camera, when the GSM version has a 2 megapixel camera and the CDMA version does not have stereo Bluetooth. Why? Especially when the CDMA version is larger than the GSM version. Also, it looks like Sprint may have mucked with the UI... not as much as Verizon did, but more than Alltel. Alltel's KRZR takes almost 50 seconds to load up when you hit the power key after the phone is off, the unbranded GSM version takes hardly any time at all. Can't imagine how long Verizon and Sprint's KRZRs take to load.
...the biggest problem with many of these thin phones is battery life; at least on the CDMA side. My GSM RAZR got about 6.5 hours of talk time and could last for days without charging, unlike my VZW RAZR, which I had to charge every night.
To be fair, the KRZR was released to GSM first, but not in North America. The KRZR will be released to Cingular in November also, but T-Mobile will be in for a wait.
That's true, my brother got his about a week before they were released announced from Verizon and Alltel, but I was only referring to US carriers.
Congrats, Budney, on your Palm Treo WX!!! It's good to see someone else w/ a Treo on the boards!!! How do you like it so far???
I thought the Sprint forum was the new roaming zone... j/k :loony: If my cell phone future wasn't so up in the air right now I would be all over the KRZR.
True, Tony E, but I'm going to thread jack my own thread for a sec and say one fftopic: thing... Budney, I love the new avatar. Well done.
Thanks Moto! Had to incorporate my awesome old avitar in there some how. WiggyFife, Even with a few quirks/bugs it is by far the best pdaphone I have ever used. :thumb:
What about T-Mobile then? Do you really want to go away from the convenience of getting the "latest & greatest" unlocked GSM device? PS: Sorry about posting this in the Sprint Forum......
You got a point there.... wouldn't it be great if there were sponsors that gave you a free handset of your choice to keep using their services? :browani:
