I'm happy that this merger is now dead. It likely wouldn't have been approved anyway and why waste a year of time or more in the process? Even if approved this could have been another Nextel type of disaster with different technologies, cultures, etc that all had to be blended together. Who knows how that process would have gone. In addition Sprint would have halted network improvements during this time in favor of waiting for the new combined company which would have had a negative impact on current customers. Now they will be forced to keep up the network improvements at a fast pace and instead maybe focus on acquiring U.S. Cellular and/or some of the remaining smaller partners they have like Ntelos that would be a piece of cake to complete.

Didn't they go through this like 3 or 4 years ago?

T-mobile tried to sell themselves to AT&T and the government wasn't hearing that either.
