I am currently a Verizon Customer however I am getting Fed up with there high prices, however I live in the orange county NY area, and wanted to know how the service was . I am concerned because I do beleive that verizons coverage is the best around, but also being cautios because I dont want to take a step back, however if the services is comprable to verizon I would make the switch

The only person that can answer this question if yourself. Nobody knows how the coverage will be in the areas you travel to on a routine basis except you. I advise that you take advantage of Sprints 30 day no risk policy and check it out. Also, try sprint.com/coverage

    Good luck!

I agree with the advice above. Try out Sprint first, but don't port your number away from Verizon until you are satisfied with Sprint's coverage where you need to use your phone most. If Sprint does work out, you can port your numbers at that time. If Sprint doesn't work out, you don't have to deal with the hassle of setting up your Verizon account again since it will have stayed active the entire time.
