Well I took my frist trip to Vegas in about 2 years and was pleasantly surprised to see even better indoor coverage this time. I stayed on the 12th floor of New York, New York in the New Yorker wing. Coverage in the room was full bars and in the range or -68 dbs to -75 dbs (depending on where I was standing). Didn't have any problems with capacity or missed calls. At every casino I visited I had coverage pretty much everywhere. I think the lowest I remember seeing was 2 bars in one buffet. It might have been in the Silverton off the strip. I believe almost every major hotel and casino has a microcell/repeater installed these days. But I only went inside 7 or 8 of them including the MGM and Mandalay Bay. I did have one failed handoff from the parking structure at New York while going down the elevator to the main lobby to check in. The signal was full but I guess the tower outside couldn't handoff to the DAS system down in the casino.

Also got a chance to visit Red Rock Canyon Park for the first time. Coverage all the way up the 160 to the park was solid. Once inside the park I had a useable signal up until the visitor's center. I had a 7 minute conversation at the visitor's center and it worked fine even though I was at about 1-2 bars. Once we got drove north of there on the 13 mile tour the signal was fluctuating at 0-1 bars and I assume it would have been difficult to get a call out but didn't try. A friend with an AT&T phone also showed no service during the drive. We didn't have any other carrier's to test out.

Thanks for the report Larry. It dosen't surprise me a bit that coverage was that good up in Vegas, as I go up their from time to time. Now that I have a nice new camera I want to spend a couple of days up their and take some cell site pics away from the Strip. :)

I go to Vegas at least twice a year and coverage with every carrier in Vegas is great in my experience. I even got service inside the Hoover dam when I took a tour there about a year and a half ago. The tour guide had told a girl on her cell phone to finish her conversation before we head down and once downstairs in the dam my cell phone goes off with the most cheesy ringtone my girlfriend had assigned herself lol!

I was there in January and I think my VZW phone worked fine all the way through. I'm guessing if you completely lost a Sprint signal than it would have switched over to roaming on VZW's towers. I agree with Andy, in all the years I've been going to Vegas I've found that every carrier tends to be really good in that town.
