If I understand it correctly, they will be putting "modular" base-stations into the nextwork, that allow you to swap in/out different technologies simply by plugging a new card in. That way they can mix-n-match technologies/frequencies, and upgrade easier to 4G in the future. I think this is a good and much needed idea to consolidate the mess that Sprint has right now. The article doesn't mention LTE, but this plan also sets them on a easy path to LTE in the future, if they decide that they want to finally join the club... Why am I having "Dodgeball" flashbacks?
