A year ago I purchased a Southern Linc cellphone plan for my 20 year old son. The plan was in my name because they considered him a minor. He is the sole user of the phone and pays the bill. He has moved away and has a job where he travels extensively all over the US. They have recently sent a bill for over $300.00. The bulk of the billing was for roaming charges. My son's company has offered to get him a company phone, but we were told by Southern Linc we still had a year left on our plan. Also, they stated it would cost $200.00 to get out of the contract, Any suggestion on what we should do?

    Re: Help

Have someone else take over the service and put it in their name or you could use the service until the contract is up.

Or, since his company will be paying for his service, cancelling and paying the $200 termination penalty will be cheaper, probably, than just paying the bills for the next 12 months.

There really isn't any way to get out of the contract without transferring it to someone else or paying the TF, unless you can prove you have a 12 month contract.

There is a clause in your contract, If he has moved to a location where service is less than 8% or his new location is in a roaming area thay have to let him out of the contract. Your contract secures the provider as well as the customer into contractual guidelines.
